Excellent tomatoes - unpeeled
Note that these are unpeeled. It says it in the description but a lot of reviewers seem to be realizing that only after the fact. The taste of these tomatoes is excellent. I wanted a smoother sauce, though so I used an immersion blender to thin the peels with excellent results. I didn't feel that this had that strong acid flavor that a lot of canned tomatoes had so I was very pleased.

Premium canned tomatoes with decent flavor
Decent flavored tomatoes without a strong canned flavor, and they have skin on, but being canned, you don't feel it that much since they'll mush down anyways as you cook or eat them. The flavor is mild in that it is lightly sweet and acidic without being too sour or salty or sweet. Comes with sauce in the can, not just liquid, I guess the sauce portion is some amount of the tomatoes cooked down into being sauce consistency maybe. Nice canned whole tomatoes with skin but being canned doesn't feel and taste like fresh tomatoes.Given the quality of the tomatoes and sauce compared to other canned tomatoes, this feels like premium version, and the price also reflects that. But I'm not Italian or a hard core (canned) tomato enthusiast, so I can't tell if the premium price is worth the actual quality of the tomatoes I tasted or whether this might be overpriced. But then again these seem to be imported so maybe the price reflects import cost and fees.Usually the expiration date on canned food is printed on the can itself, at least for American canned food. In this case, the date was on the paper label on the can, I almost missed it thinking there was no printed expiration date. Also, the can appeared to be slightly rusted along the rim of the bottom of the can, it looked this way on several cans, maybe all of them in the case, but I didn't check. Either the quality of the cans is not that great, or sitting in storage in warehouse or the international shipping caused it to start to rust. The top of can is ok, and it has a pull tab lid to open can without need of a can opener, which is nice.

Great tomatoes for an Italian sauce
Nice San Marzano style Cherry Tomatoes. Whole tomatoes with the skin. This is the only style of tomato I really like to buy. I like to crush them in my sauce with a wooden spoon so they break apart naturally wihtout turning into soup. I like my sauce to be a little bit chunky. There are skins but if you simmer your sauce right you won't really notice the skins. These tomatoes were very flavorful and perfect for a sauce with some basil, italian seasoning, meatballs, some romano, whatever else you like in your sauce. They are just as good as any other big name cans of San Marzano style Italian tomatoes you'd find in the grocery store. I didn't think they were more sweet or more bitter than most other tomatoes you'll find in this style.

Yum!
Delicious and nice quality tomatoes! Our family loves making pizza sauce, pasta sauce, and stews and these have been great. They make really nice sauces.

Didn’t have the flavor I hoped for
I’m not sure what I was expecting but I thought these tomatoes were just “ok”. This is coming from an average cook who makes meals for her family and doesn’t have an especially refined palate. I tried them lightly mashed with seasoning in pasta and I just could not get it to taste right. My husband tried making tomato soup out of them and they almost got bitter. Both times we didn’t eat what we made. I actually love canned tomatoes even plain and will through them in several recipes but these just did not do it for me. Too bland and lacked flavor I was looking for. These would best be suited for a very specific recipe that calls for these exact tomatoes - especially at this price point. As a side note many of the cans I received were rusted around the rim which gave me pause.

Great quality in thin tin cans!
This is what I expected. We’re “foodies” and my spouse is a classically trained chef, so we tend to buy nicer ingredients. These lived up to our expectations. Several had dents, so make sure to inspect.

So good!
I am obsessed with these canned tomatoes! Historically, I find canned tomatoes really acidic and rather use tomato paste in my food. This canned tomatoes are not that acidic and has a good mellow aroma that pairs really well with anything I make. There's good proportion of tomatoes and it's juicy paste like filler. Love it!

Next level canned tomatoes
The media could not be loaded. These Pastificio Di Martino Cherry Tomato Cans are so easy to work with. I used them in Sam the Cooking Guy’s red sauce recipe for pastina it turned out so delicious. Tomatoes imported from Italy are superior and these live up to my expectation. These specific tomatoes claim to have lower acidity and I agree with that statement. After only simmering 10 minutes the sauce was ready to eat, no sugar or acidity control needed. I did squish each tomato by hand and remove the peel but it was easy and only took a few minutes. Each can that I opened so far contains about 13 nice sized tomatoes. I’m so happy to have a pantry full of organic Italian tomatoes for a comparable price to the non imported ones from the grocery store. My daughter extra loved the pastina because she saw the can said Dolce & Gabbana so she immediately thought it was fancy sauce. These might be the best imported tomatoes I’ve ever used.
