If you have decent flow to ram pump (4gpm), and 3ft of head, this is a great check valve for you. It is well built with smooth insides to help prevent mineral accumulation. Threads are true NPT. And the price is very good (less than 15 dollars for 1 inch brass check valve.) If you have low input flow, this valve might be too heavy for your ram pump.

Not a good product

Female threads on both ends are very short.

I needed this to repair an issue with my rural well. The old valve was leaking and a replacement was not available at the Blue or Orange stores locally. The casting/machining and threads are very clean. The valve works properly and I have no concerns about it's longevity... Great price too!

Just installed, and the quality seems good here. There is a little known secret with these check valves. Pretty much all the negative reviews mention the threads being an issue. What they don't seem to realize is that it's NPT threads. Which require Teflon tape, or something else to seal properly. They are not designed to bottom out, in fact if you want to install a 90° fitting afterwards you can take advantage of this and stop when it is facing the right direction. With the right sealant of course. I am attaching a photo of the right way to install something with these threads. You can clearly see the Teflon tape, and how I was able to point everything in a certain direction. It is a custom bilge pump on my boat I am installing, so I don't want this water draining back. Plus I want to trap a little water, so the pump doesn't run dry. I hope it helps others.
