Set during British India 1857, Captain Clayboune (Rock Hudson) is faced with restoring his reputation after being harshly disciplined for disobeying orders.

BENGAL BRIGADE aka Bengal Rifles" from SIMPLY MEDIA
Another good transfer from SIMPLY MEDIA. !6.9 ratio (fills my entire screen) good picture and sound. No extras. This is the sort of "Boys Own Paper" action film that Universal did so well, and that as young lads we would go to see regardless of reviews (which we never read or knew existed!). Rock Hudson makes a terrific hero and is partnered by the glorious technicoloured Arlene Dahl. Set in India in 1857 it tells the tale of ex Captain Rock who defied direct orders to try and save his men and his attempts to thwart the evil Rajah and his minions - a bit un PC now, (they only wanted their country back after all) but then, with all the action and noise we didn't care and I don't now. Good fun for lovers of BOP adventures from the 50's. and the young at heart.

ROCK MY SOUL
A few months after the release of Tyrone POWER's " King of the Khyber Rifles" from Fox, UNIVERSAL took the same formula, giving their new upcoming star Rock HUDSON the opportunity to match POWER's performance. But alas, good looking Rock seems wooden and lacks the charisma of Tyrone, in this India 19th century epic, all recreated on the Universal lot, with much taste I must say, so the picture, although being a bit short in lenght, is quite pleasant to watch, especially lovely Arlene DAHL.
