Automatic float air vents for use in closed heating and cooling systems The compact and proven design ensures highly efficient and reliable operation. Water in a system contains air pockets that can lead to corrosion damage and reduced heat transfer. Ideally, a Flexvent float degasser should be installed at the highest point of the system. If air accumulates in the float vent, the float sinks into the housing and the air release valve opens. The Flexvent float air vent can be easily installed in any system thanks to its small dimensions. The air cushion in the upper part of the housing protects the valve seat sufficiently from contamination so that the Flexvent does not leak. Flexvent float air traps are used in closed heating and refrigeration circuits with a maximum glycol content of 50% To ensure excellent quality, we test all Flexvents before delivery. How does a Flexvent work? Automatic ventilation The relatively large air cushion located at the top of each Flexvent float vent protects the valve seat sufficiently from dirt so that the Flexvent does not leak. Commissioning Turn the red cap (E) half a turn to the left for quick filling.After filling, close the cap (E) one turn clockwise to allow for leak-free operation. 4. Enlargement Release the pressure in the piping system (only for the version without shut-off valve).Unscrew the Flexvent air bleeder (F) from the shut-off valve or pipe system connection (G). While not a "Silver bullet" for a central heating system with an airlock issue, the Flamco was not designed to be that. There are many reasons for airlocks occurring in a domestic CH scenario, and an airvent valve may or may not be the solution. I just needed to turn off the water supply and electric then drain sufficient water from the radiator loop so the water level and pressure fell sufficiently to allow me to safely replace the valve. I then had to restore the water level and bleed the system etc. Your central heating system is probably very different from mine, so this may not apply in your case. Irrespective of where ithe valve is located in the circuit you will definitely need to at least partially drain your system as the valve is intended to operate under pressure.
