Tenerife: 5 car tours, 65 long and short walks (Sunflower Walking & Touring Guide)

I've just returned from walking in Tenerife and used this excellent book to plan and follow several routes. The routes seem well-chosen (the 4/5 I did - I combined parts of two routes in the Anaga to make one walk - were all excellent). The directions are also very clear. Some of the walks link together and can easily be combined or modified, particularly useful to make up circular routes when using a car. Some of the route numbers and signposting has changed since 2013, but I see there is now a 2016 edition that presumably has some amendments not on the web site (my fault for buying the book too far in advance). One slight disadvantage is that bus instructions assume that you are staying in Puerto de la Cruz, though it isn't difficult to look up other bus routes on the TITSA web site.

Very good guide book, walks could have been better shown. Only Anaga region map shown with walks rest of the island was shown as road map. Some major walks around Santiago del Teide we're not really covered that well. However this is not solely a walking map and it served us well.

I took this book to Tenerife on a motoring and walking holiday. i did not find it easy to follow, and regularly had to hunt for and ask other walkers or motorists for directions. Generally local maps were also poor, as too many roads were left out, the map with this book had the same trouble. In two weeks I never found a good quality good detail map for sale anywhere. I bought this book sight unseen online, but would have been unlikely to select it in a bookshop. Expanded in size and content with more photos and information, including a good map it would probably be worth the money. Tenerife however is a wonderful and varied place.

The guides are always good value (already have the Corfu & Gran Canaria editions). Really helpful on our recent trip to Tenerife. Found the car journeys and walk descriptions very informative although I found the best use to be (with the aid of a local map) using elements of each to plan interesting "individual" days out whilst on holiday.

The routes are described in a lot of detail and I agree with the author's choices.

Some great walks but a few typos/walks haven't really been updated since the last night (some inaccuracies etc with signs) - however, things can change quickly so not blaming the author. Overall, a good book to have.

A useful book, much appreciated on our recent trip to the Anaga. We didn't manage to do all the walks - that will have wait until our next stay ... and the one after that ...

Will take this on holiday. Needs updating?
