Good replacement for fluorescent tubes. Must rewire inside your lumiaire. Light differs - more directional.
When used to replace standard fluorescent tubes the fitting has to be modified because these replacements require a simple Live and Neutral connection. The power has to go to one end only; the pins on the other end of these replacements are simply there to support the tube' in the lumiaire, as they do not connect to the electricity. Standard ballasted fluorescent tubes have a starter and are wired to connect the mains to both ends of the tube. Such fittings have to be modified for the LED 'tubes' to work. If you are happy to modify your fitting it is pretty easy to do. From start to finish, it will probably take a couple of hours per fitting to do. You need to be careful to reconnect wires safely and to avoid shocks from any stored charges. To rewire my lumiaires I found it simplest to remove the whole of the front of the fitting and to disconnect it from the mains wiring. It is easiest to work on the lumiaire in a well lit place, e.g. as a kitchen table. My UK made lumiaire, which dates from probably to 2005, had a ballast (choke/induction coil), a condenser (capacitor) and the replaceable starter. I disconnected all these from the circuit inside the lumiaire by cutting their wires, unscrewed them from the frame and put them in the recycle. Using the existing wires, I reconnected Live and Neutral to the pins at one end of each tube directly from the incoming mains connection. All my, and probably all, lumiaires have . a mains connection that can be adapted to connect the wires to one end of the fitting. A screwdriver is needed to release and later retighten the clamping screw in the mains connection block. Be very careful with any capacitor and ballast or integrated electronic equivalents. Even when disconnected from the mains they can store high voltages and significant charges which could injure you. I cut my wires with insulated wire cutters and wearing thick insulating gloves, just in case there was any residual charge. Once rewired, the fitting can then be reassembled in situ and the new tubes installed (be sure to put the right end. Mark the end that has the power connections with a felt tip so that you will always know which end to place the Live-Neutral pins in.The LEDs produce a bright light, a little whiter than an incandescent. They are directional, unlike a fluorescent tube. Once in the lumiaire they can be rotated to direct the light in the desired direction, i.e. so they don't throw much light towards the lumiaire or ceiling.Mine arrived 2 days before the estimated date too; most helpful. However, there were no instructions with the tubes supplied by Dependable Trading. The only 'instructions' were some very brief markings on one end of the tubes stating that one pin had to be Live and the other Neutral. and the I could thent can then be placed on a table in a well lit place. and your fitting is likely to require you to climb a ladder to access it..This arrived 2 days before the start of the estimated range and was what I had ordered. They arrive in a thick roll of bubble wrap, which protected mine well. afHowever there are no instructions on what to do with an old flourescent fitting. As any ballasted flourescent fixture will require modification to ensure that there is a simple one ended Live-Neutral connection, these should be included.

Easy to fit
Bought to replace tubes in my old workshop fitting and as all control gear is bypassed it renders the light fitting new ! Seem expensive initially but they'll probably out-last me so could end up a bargain and the light level is excellent and instant.

This is not a direct replacement for a florescent tube
I just replaced the existing tubes and the light did not work. After checking the product again I found that I had to rewire the light fitting then all was good. The rewiring is straight forward as you are removing unnecessary parts that are not required by the LED tubes. But once re-wired there is no going back to non-LED tubes!

Brilliant product (literally)
Ordered these 2 LED tubes to replace 2 broken fluorescent tubes in a fitting I had been given for my shed. They are just the job. Ripped out the ballasts, starters & wiring & connected directly to power. (10 minute job). They are very bright and light up immediately at switch on.

Excellent Product
I replaced all the tubes in my garage with these lights and the result is excellent. You need some electrical knowledge to carry out the conversion but is is straightforward.

Well worth switching.
Great product.Easy to convert the old unit to take this.LED plenty bright enough. There is a slight dip on this 6 foot tube but not noticeable or an issue of concern.

An upgrade worth the cost
Simple rewire to bypass the balast and you are good to go.
