Love this game
Love this game! To start off with the fifficutly settings are amzing. That seem like a minor thing, but if you're kinda crap like me, it really isn't :p . It has harder difficulty settings too, but I stay well away from them :p .But as to the actual game, there's a ton of civilisations to choose from, the game is simple to learn how to play, I learnt just from playing. The controls, layout etc is really simple and intuitive, I'm visually impared and can play it fine.It has a great selection of game modes, though if you're like me you'll just stick to the main mode(I forget the name sorry). Also for ease of use, or for visually impared people like me who like to invade the crap out of everyone, it has a useful feature where if you can't find a city you hven't invaded yet :p you can select to talk to another leader, and it will show you where their main city is, or if that has been invaded it'll show you one that hasn't been invaded yet.The music is good, nothing too special, but I guess that's kinda the point? It's not distracting basically. I can't comment on the info the game gives you on great leaders and such, as I can't read text very well, but it's good that it gives you info on great leaders, great people, famous buildings etc. It is also great that it gives you the option to save during game play. As thank god, even if you go invade everyone straight away the game usually lasts a long time. Not sure about the map of the week mode, as since this game is old I don't know how that works, haven't tried it tbh. Also there's no trophies, but that's a minor disappointment. So yeah, in summary a great game that is one of those simple to play, hard to master types that is just great overall, not a single aspect of it is bad really.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution for PS3
As a long time fan of the Civilization series I was really excited to see a version for the Playstation. The game is like a hybrid of Civilization 2 and Civilization 3, taking the excellent gameplay of the former with the slicker graphics of the latter.Taken on it's own the game is great, involving and a lot of fun. The only drawbacks are compared to the PC versions of Civilization. Some of the options are missing at the start of the game (number of opponents, the map size and type), and it doesn't seem possible to see a map of the world while playing.

Not what I was expecting.
It's a short game that last a couple of hours before it ends and a winner is declared. I found it quite confusing as it keeps moving to different aspects ie army, cities, building, religion, other countries rulings, technological advances etc. Once someone declares war if you haven't got your army in place don't expect to be able to move them - it's too late (and believe me all the other nations seem to declare war every few minutes!) The basic level becomes annoying very quickly as different people keep popping up to tell you different things and blocking what you were doing. I was hoping for something with a little more building and keeping your civilisation happy than this game offered.

Transfer to console destroys the game
Despite doing an excellent job on the controls, the anticiapted limits of this or (as the producer may have believed) the peolple playing it. Either case the full ganme play should have been left in and would have worked well. The maps are far (and I mean far) too small, in fact tiny, making all exploration pointless. The game play has been simplified too much and the technology tree destroyed making advancement automatic rather than worked. In fact you do advance through technological time periods no matter how far advanced you are.Due to map he size the no. of opponents are limited, but even with only five, within a few turns all the land is taken up.This has now become a shortened version of the game which takes all the fun out of it, every game is pretty much the same. Finaly the game summary at the end is pathetic and makes no sense, you really loose any sense of acheivement. This version could have fitted within the full game as a simplified version. My Nine year old quites enjoys it but it isn't really a challange for anyone much older. Aoverall: Good for kids, bad for anyone is has played the orginals.

Controls, Interface and Graphics are RUBBISH but it still can take a place in your heart
Beggars cant be choosers considering such exams like the ps3 are very far between. it can be addictive at first cos your desperation to play a genre of game like this. but after a few game plays you start to realise its a very poor imitation of the superb versions available on PC. the Graphics are desirable and the interface and controls are appalling. however if you don't have a pc and want to get your teeth in a game like this I would recommend it. don't blame me if you lose hours of your life to it. in spite of all its flaws it can be an addictive game.

Really good game. Different every time.
Enjoyable for children and adults alike. The 'technology tree' is the real highlight, showing how every new technology depend on prior advancements, and giving you an idea of what alternative histories might have happened if certain technologies had been developed in a different order, or a different place.Recent highlights of the game in our house include defeating the Knights of the English empire using the bomber squadron of a Zulu air force, building Shakespeare's Theatre in Zimbabwe, and Denver being invaded by the Russians.

No trophies, but Xbox has achievements.
The game is fantastic, and I love it - but there are no trophies, which is something you should be aware of if you 1000G'd the Xbox version and are looking to do the same on PS3.
