Despite accompanying a comedy with a nicely hot-cha-cha premise--Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt as gold-digger con artists--the soundtrack to Heartbreakers offers very little in the way of truly saucy music. Besides Alison Krauss' take on "Baby, Now That I've Found You", three Antonio Carlos Jobim classics performed by Astrud Gilberto, Sarah Vaughan and a stiff Susannah McCorkle are about the only suggestion of real sex here. The What Women Want soundtrack offered Sinatra and Bennett, so why is the third-rate lounge--act version (by Michael Andrew and Swingerhead) of "The Best is Yet to Come" included here? That's not to mention the snooze-inducing singer-songwriter tracks (Shawn Colvin, Inara George and Bryony Atkinson) that amount to musical non sequiturs. This is a puzzling album, at best. --Rickey Wright
