Not quite what I wanted but it works, sometimes.
My biggest complaint is that it "catches" in an open position and is so difficult to release from that. My wrists are damaged from overuse and I got this to help me load firewood to bring in the house or put in the stove. I have been frustrated when it won't latch on to a piece of wood - and then when it won't let go.

Beware: grip can come off and drop a log on your foot
These tongs are good for picking up logs without having to bend but the handle has a major design issue.First the good. These easily clamp around logs up to around 12” in diameter and allow you to pick them up without having to bend over and try to get a hand hold. However this product has a serious flaw. The handle grip, made out of some sort of grippy rubber like substance, does NOT stay on. The grip is attached to the tool with a friction fit on a smooth metal bar inside of the handle. The problem is that it doesn’t stay on. When you go to pick up or drag a log, you’ve got a pretty good chance of the green grip slipping off and the log dropping to the ground and hopefully not on your leg or foot. I am going to try to reattach the grip with epoxy but I am not confident that this will work because of the amount of stress that will be placed in the glue joint combined with the face that the metal is smooth. This product needs to be redesigned to have some sort of mechanical attachment to ensure that the grip cannot slip off. As is, the only way you can keep the handle on is to hold the log keeping the handle pointed upwards, which is quite difficult with larger pieces of wood.I would not recommend this product at all.

Tough to Handle
Actually, it is easy to handle and fairly well made. However: two issues. 1. The handle slides off making it a little dangerous for your feet if hauling a large log. Needs better glue. 2. Things that are used for working in the woods should not be painted green. Needs to be orange.

Ergonomic game changer
Super handy for handling sections and limbs. Basically it does two functions: it extends your arm length (reducing stooping), and makes a secure grip (you grab a sturdy handle and the tongs grip the log). I find it surprisingly easy to release when you're ready which was my one worry, but it's easy to get used to.

Timber Tuff Tongs - great for moving large timbers by hand
I bought these originally for moving firewood. Well, I had a building project that came up before then. We needed to move some 20 foot long treated 6x6 timbers-- (4) of them. They are really heavy. We wrestled the first one by hand. It was a chore. Then after that, I thot there had to be a better way. I remembered I had (2) of these brand new in the box for wood cutting this fall. These WILL scratch up your wood a little bit, but it is well worth it! Use at your own risk. Once you get a "bite" into the timber and hold tite, these tongs are amazing how well they work. It took an absolutely miserable job of setting large timbers to slightly less than miserable. Still hard work. Heavy duty construction. I think I paid about $20 each for these. Worth every penny on this last job. I haven't used them in the woods yet, but I think they will be fantastic. If I have any negative experience, I will report back here.

A back saver!
This is very functional and easy to use; the end result is moving logs around doesn't wreck your back or your hands. The handle came unstuck, but that's a simple fix with a bit of glue. The price is low enough that I bought it just to see if it was useful and if I needed to buy a more expensive one, but this is perfect as is and I gained a valuable tool and saved money at the same time.

Amazing! Makes moving logs simple and comfortable!!
The media could not be loaded. I bought 2 of these 2 years ago. I would never move logs without these things. They pick up logs so easily. The weight of the log makes the teeth dig right in. They will stay securely connected if you want to put them down for a minute. They also release very easily by just pushing down when the weight is off of the tongs. Like others said, buying 2 just makes sense. Both tongs can be used on larger logs or one log in each tong which gives better balance. It truly is a one hand operation, so using one in each hand is simple. These tongs also save your back because you don't have to bend down very far to grab the logs. These are also great quality. I lost one of mine in the snow and found it in the spring when the snow thawed. It didn't have any rust and worked perfectly.

Essential, An Absolutely Essential Tool!
Having lifted, dragged and bucked up a lot of logs for many years (we harvest and burn 6-7 cord a year for heat) I think this tool reduces my physical effort when processing logs by 90% or some outrageous number. We fall standing dead, cut into lengths, transport, stack then, when ready to block, move lengths on to a small trailer, haul to the blocking station and buck up. This tool makes the dragging of lengths off a pile easy. It makes picking up lengths easy because of the instant and firm grip without having to squeeze to lift or get a grip under logs with hands. It makes carrying lengths easy as it extends my right arm an extra ten inches or so and gives an unshakeable grip. It grasps the log with a simple flick andpull and disengages with a little twist (once the weight is off). This is a traditional design and the old folk that worked it out sure knew what they were doing. Im only sorry I didn't buy it years ago. It is an essential tool. I should have bought two.Edit: and now we have, indeed, bought a second one. It's that good. It's essential. Logs need not have bark on them. It works with one hand only. It's great. The whole family thinks so......

This tool is great!
- It clamps quickly onto logs of any size without effort.- Shakes off the log with a flick of the wrist.- Works on logs under 12".- When the log is being dragged out of the bush this tool slides around to the butt end and makes the job so easy.- I want one for each hand to pull logs out of the bush or to toss them around the yard.Awesome!!!

Better Than I Thought
Really an Amazing product.Works exactly as advertised. I am surprised on how easy it picks up logs of firewood. Now it will not pick up small rounds ones. Now if I could make one small mute point it would be wondering why the handle could not be made like about one foot longer so one would not even have to bend down at all hardly. Must be a reason why not but that is just a comment and it's great the way it is. I put this product into the "better than I thought list".

Not safe
Almost broke my foot with this thingThe handle detached from the tool after a first use so the log rolled on my footBe aware this handle needs to be held side ways not to support the log all by itselfNot recommended

Great price for a good working tool
They work good a little sticky at first from the powder coat, helps with not bending over to pick wood up, I have a disease that affects my back and these really help. The handle is plastic I think I might wrap it with hockey tape for better grip but at this price point this is a great tool
