Prayers for the Domestic Church: A Handbook for Worship in the Home

a friend recommended this to me. I haven't yet read it fully, just some skimming. Seems good, and I'm happy to add to my library!

This book is joyful, sensitive, and a mature guide to prayer. My grown children still recall fondly the annual Birthday Blessing and the St. Nicholas Day blessing that we read when we hung our stockings. The first year our daughter was away at college, her brother read it into her voice mail, and we sent her stocking by parcel post. This book helps you to keep the sacred in the cycle of holidays and the events of family life. We kept ours near the kitchen table so that when someone aced a test or was going on a trip, we could grab it.

Ed Hays was a true gift to me..I met him 40 years ago and am deeply grateful for his wisdom and guidance. This book has become an anchor for our family through life's joys and sorrows. Ed's compassion, gratitude and wisdom glow within each prayer. May it do the same for you ....

I liked this book for the variety of prayer resources it offered. Even though I did not purchase this for myself, the friends I gave it to as a gift have commented on how much they enjoyed it. I think the title is a bit off base since it contains a variety of prayer materials. I was led to believe that this was more of a handbook for worship in the home. Adding the word "Prayers for Worship in the Home" would have been helpful. Nevertheless, I appreciated its content once I had the chance to skim through it.

Bought a second copy so the family could share. Perfect for a young family.

I received my copy of this book in a church class in the 80s. I bought this for my son and his wife. This is our Go-To for any prayer situation. It was beautiful when our family put my father's ashes in a box my son built for him. This sublime and holy moment grew organically around the family table the night before the funeral, and this book was part of it. I use it for daily prayer; and whenever a ceremony presents itself.

I have an original copy of this text by Ed Hayes that has functioned as prayer guide for over 30 years. We continue to "share" this text with family and friends as it contains great prayers for those everyday events in our lives. My niece married a few years back and requested that I use a prayer "from the book"! Needless to say she and her husband are recipients of a copy.

Has some great prayers and information but not what i was looking for.
