This cross stitch kit includes 1 plastic hoop, 4 pieces of Aida cloth with the patterns already printed on them, embroidery floss and needles. There are written instructions on how to do a basic stitch. The pre-printed patterns eliminate the most confusing aspect of learning to cross stitch, which is reading the patterns, allowing a beginner to focus on learning to stitch first. The embroidery floss is separated by color and pre-carded for each of the 4 projects, which is also helpful for beginners. The designs are simple but cute. This is well thought out kit to learn the basics of cross stitch.

I received two ladybug patterns and no dragonfly

This set comes with one plastic hoop, 4 stiff, rough gridded squares of fabric/canvas with the imprint of the colorful insect on each, 3 needles, and a card of embroidery thread in the needed colors for each image. The imprint on the canvas makes it really easy to know where to put each color - I found these to be much easier to use compared to other needlepoints where there is only a code written on the fabric that corresponds to a color. However, I did run very low on embroidery thread - so I recommend doing 2 strands or 3 strands. Just using the 6 strand thread that comes like that would risk running out.

I have been cross-stitching since I was a child. I selected this kit for my own 7 yr old daughter so I can teach her like she asked. I am so pleased with it. The hoop included is sturdy plastic. The pattern is printed on the fabric, making it easy for my daughter to know which color to use where. The floss included is DMC, a quality floss, and it includes the DMC numbers so if she runs out, we can easily match the color. That floss number is also printed on the AIDA fabric. The best part to me is that it not only comes with multiple needles, they are in a small, secure container. I think my daughter will love using this kit to learn to cross- stitch and it will make teaching her a lot easier.

The designs are well stamped on the 4 grids included in the kit. This means you don't have to guess if an area was meant to be marked or not. The kit has everything you need to get started and they aren't so large that they are overwhelming. It is a fun size for any skill level. I plan to work on these while I am watching TV.

These are really cute and great quality. It's perfect for beginners to learn basic cross stitch.
