Excellent action (demon fighting) manga
From back of book:After the loss of a friend, Kazuya and company are determined to put a stop to the madness. Risking life and limb, they make it to the Akasaka Tunnel to get answers from Izuna and the Special Forces. What they learn is the terrible truth about how the government plans to end the lockdown.Review of Volume 6:Keisuke was lost to the Kaido's revenge in the last book. Atsuro has taken Keisuke's loss particularly hard and Midori/Dolly has gone to look for her demon 'Jackie'. Although Midori/Dolly would annoy me in real life, I have to appreciate that she is the only one who can have a demon ally without a comp to 'enforce' the alliance. After finding out how the government plans to end the lockdown, the friends (Kazuya, Atsuro, and Yuzu) realize that it is up to them to end the lockdown. Naoya (Kazuya's cousin and Atsuro's programming mentor) makes an appearance to provide rather cryptic guidance. The impact of Haru's singing is explored in greater depth. There is simply so much action, that it is hard to put the book down! I was very thankful that I didn't discover this series until all of the books had been published so that I never had to wait for months to find out what happens next!Although the book/series isn't perfect, I found it a great read and feel that anyone interested in this type of manga will enjoy it. The action is fast paced, but still allows time for character development.Review of Devil Survivor series:Few books/series are perfect, but this Devil Survivor is very, very good. The art work is well done, consistent, and realistic even though the demons are fantasy creations. The story is based on a game, but the author provides enough information to make the main characters seem like 'real people' with realistic reactions to their situation and the events surrounding them. The ending was satisfying and reasonable.
