The Closed Sicilian: Move by Move (Everyman Chess)

I've ordered a lot of books from the "Move to Move" series, I'm a big fan of it because strategic and tactical ideas are discussed in great detail. But this one is the worst, here you'll get only variants and nothing more without any words of explanation.

I already own a few 'Move by Move' books (The Alekhine defense move by move, Karpov move by move , Capablanca move by move, and Petrosian move by move) and particularly enjoy the format they provide. The question / answer format forces us to really think about the "How and Why" of each positions. I like the Closed Sicilian because it is an opening in which the strategic planning and understanding is usually more important than the huge theoretical knowledge requested by the open Sicilian lines! This tremendous work contains more than 400 pages, so it will take quite some time to absorb it, but it certainly constitutes the best source of knowledge I know about the Closed Sicilian!Top class job from the author!

"Move by move" is an excellent new series for the avid but non professional chess player. All are excellent , even those written by CL.

Very complete and written for white and black players with a very unbiased approach (this is becoming a rarity in opening books - mostly repertoire books). In terms of the "move by move style", I like it but questions should be limited to very nice tactics and places where one or two paragraphs of text are needed (but not 2 back to back questions to explain one position). As with all chess books, the balance between text, detailed analysis, complete games and general organisation is not always easy to find.Also I think the chapters would be improved by a slightly longer introduction of general ideas and definitely a conclusion. Having said that I think this is the best book on the Closed Sicilian and am totally satisfied with my purchase.
