Avantree Relay - Airplane Bluetooth Adapter for 2 AirPods or Headphones

Why did I buy this product? Because I make international flights on a regular basis. For travel, noise canceling headphones are a must-have, but most are now bluetooth. Unfortunately, most cattle class seats have infotainment systems that only provide mini-jack outputs. Enter this device as the perfect solution! At least in my opinion. This device allows me to plug-in to the output jack on an aircraft without the inconvenience of wires. It has several domestic uses, specifically provided a bluetooth interface to older audio equipment, PC's that don't have bluetooth, and (some) tablets. Does it work? Yes, no reservations. Fully charged, the battery was only 50% drained at the end of a 10 hour flight to London from Phoenix, AZ. I used this device in conjunction with my iPad mini, the aircraft infotainment system and even my PC at home. Binding was fast and effortless. Recommend you read the instructions because although binding and unbinding is easy (and works) the unit itself has a minimum of controls and you need to know what you're doing! I really can't speak to quality or range, but at least up to around ten to fifteen feet it was working fine, and sound quality was excellent without drop-out or interference. Can I listen to music while the unit is attached to a charger? Yes you can. This was a worry for me, especially since I forgot to recharge before the return trip. So I attached to a USB-C power bank and absolutely no problem, throughout charging, the unit worked fine. BTW, many airlines seem to be banning the use of power banks on or onto their aircraft - just another nuisance to check on before you fly! Do I know how much power is left? Yes, there are 4 white LED's which tell you how much charge you've got on the device. The top-most illuminated LED flashes until the next level is reached or the unit is fully charged. Finally, can two people listen to the same audio? Yes, my wife and I watched a video on the plane, with both of us wearing Bose NC headphones in bluetooth mode. The unit provides two, simultaneous links so for me that was the final box ticked. Some widgets are hard to use, but this one is well thought out and easy.

Worked well, connected easily to my headphones and a second pair of ear pods so my wife and I could both listen to a movie on a flight. The battery life seems as advertised. I was a good value for the cost and the sound was very clear.

This thing is super convenient, easy to pair with, has surprisingly good range, a good battery life, is small and convenient, and sounds great too. Got no static or anything. My only relatively small complaint is you can't unpair one of your connections without disturbing the other (as far as I know). You can only unpair both connections or just turn it off long enough to pair to something else. It's not big enough if an issue to be worth dropping a star over, but I thought I'd mention it.

I recently tried this adapter out on a multi-flight international trip with my AirPods Pro. The size and build quality are good and I found no issues with battery life, it seems to last forever. It is easy to just keep in a pocket and grab it when needed. I had no issues getting my AirPods to pair with the adapter which worked on the first try and they quickly connect every time it is turned on. So far, so good, until I started using it on long flights. About half way through watching a movie, I began to get badly distorted sound in just my left ear. At first I thought maybe my AirPod was failing in that ear. Just in case I tried turning the adapter off and back on, the distortion went away and I could hear regular stereo audio again, but now with a bad echo in both ears. I eventually had to put my AirPods back in their case, turn off the adapter and then start all over again, basically reseting everything and that fixed the issue. I hoped that was a one time glitch and felt better when that was the only time I had that issue on that flight but went on to experience the same type of issue when using it again on other flights. It is thankfully not a constant issue and can be resolved to provide at least a few hours of trouble free use, but it is still nuisance that needs to be fixed.

I’ve had this for a couple of years. Unfortunately for United Airlines flights, they have gotten smart with needing the dual plug adapter. Even worse is that for United, each jack is a slightly different size so the adapter this came with no get works. Sound is very good though

Bought it for a recent long airplane ride from Dubai to Canada. Was Flying on ITA Airways. Didn't need to use because ITA allows direct bluetooth connection, but I tested it on my laptop and it worked as stated. Only problem is trying to remember the directions to connect/pair since I don't use it very often.
