Very courageous and resourceful
The author of this book went through hell most of her life. I was very happy to read that she got through it and even started to help other victims out there in the world. The last 30 or so pages took me a while to read. I almost lost interest in the book, but I finished it and I'm glad that I did.

Powerful Book Very Eye opening
I chose to give this book a four out ofive because the message and suspense was prevalent throughout the book. There were a few gramatic errors that wasn't realated to speach. The book could have been proof read a few more times before being released. However, the message of such a brave, take no crap, and keep it pushing Monique was so inspiring. Unlike the many stories you hear of abuse the victim is always afraid to speak up but Monique was smart enough and brave enough to speak up but no one heard her story or cared to do much about it. But it showed strenght to continue to have a voice in this awful situation. I hope this book helps everyone out there that survived such a horiffic event in their lives.

Compelling. A story of courage & character despite the horrible odds...
A true story really does not require a rating. It is a recollection of what happened and it is meant to educate and encourage and this book sure did all this and more. I thank Monique for sharing her story. What a story this is! Such an easy read yet one of the most difficult reads I've ever had to do. As a Jamaican I totally related to the context of the story and I understood the societal norms that contributed to the horrors she had to endure as a child. I am so happy she wrote this book and shared her story! I really hope this book will help the many children out there that needs to find peace in forgiveness while also helping to protect those who are in situations that may lead to such horrible events. Thanks Monique!

I knew we became friends for a reason because I was U and u were me!
We had been friends since we were 15, tho we lost touch with each other we would still hail each other in passing whenever we saw each other. Little did I know we shared the same story, except ur perpetrator was ur dad but mine was my uncle my aunt's husband. I read ur book and cried like a baby when I remember what had happened to me and heard my aunt utter the same words ur mother did, "sweep in under the rug and not tell anyone else as if it never happened". I never wrote a book or spoke too much about it but I glad U did. If u ever need assistance with ur project in Jamaica I'm here. Thanks again for sharing ur story because it will help at least one little Monique out there somewhere looking for her Ray of Hope.

I shed tears and had goose pimples.
I choose to give this book a 5 star ratings because as a Jamaican it opened my eyes to what so many children had to endure. It spoke to a culture that is accepted in some communities as well.I like that it was written in simple terms that the ordinary reader can understand and related. It touch on some very serious issues that needs urgent addressing in our society, such as the need to support, empower and listen to victims. It's time we stop turning a blind eye and start speaking out.Monique you are a strong woman and I applaud your strength and courage to come forward and help victims. May God continue to bless and keep you and your daughter.

A must read!
One of the best factual books, I've read in a long time! It's a must read, it highlights issues that starts in the home that one would never think would be possible. It also highlights one woman's courage to take control of her life. I like the way that the author thinks, she did not let what happens to her defines who she has become and I admired that a lot. Get this book, you will laugh, you will cry, you will feel a lot of emotions, but overall, you will feel more educated about abuse in out society.

Great read and I am happy she chose to share ...
Omg! Received this book yesterday and I have read the entire book! The book is intense...it gives you that rush to keep reading. It leaves you to wonder what’s next after reading each page! How much can such a young soul endure?? I have heard of child abuse but never had such a close encounter with anyone’s story! Great read and I am happy she chose to share her story with us; especially the victims of such horrible acts!

AMAZING READ
This is a story of a true survivor. Raw, honest, nothing held back. For too long people in Jamaica have remained silent about the violence of sexual abuse taking place within families.Thank you Monique for calling out the abusers and those that have been sanctioning this destruction of Jamaican childhood and innocence for many many years.Once I picked up this book could not put it down. Rarely I have read something written with such openness and truth. Thank you for telling this story for all those children that couldn't speak out at the time and still remain silent years later. All professionals working with children in Jamaica and across the world need to read this book.

Empowerment and strength
An amazing well written book detailing her abuse at the hands of her predator father whom sexually groomed and abused her and whom also used his status as a police officer to keep her from exposing him as a sexual predator.Monique is definitely not a victim she’s a strong survivor whose book empowers and gives hope to others whom may of or going through the same trauma. She is an amazing strong empowered woman I highly recommended this book.

Shero!
This is a raw, gritty account of one woman's survival of the unimaginable. But not just surviving but also having the courage to speak for those with no voice and forgive her oppressors. I am hoping that she will sell enough books to create the safe haven for girls. I didn't give 5 stars because it should have been professionally edited.
