THE ROLLS OF ROUTERS
I have been a self employed joiner for over 40 years and have been using one of these nearly everyday for the last 12, and it has never let me down; When doing intricate work it is absolutely essential to have a smooth plunge action, if not and you have to force and jerk the thing down onto the workpiece, and when you have to do that sooner or later I can guarantee what ever you are working on will get spoil t, well this has the smoothest plunge on any of the routers of this size that I have ever used. It is easy to overload and burn out a small router by trying to remove to much with one cut, but never fear with this because if you do it will stop dead, and you will have to wait a minute or so for it to restart, frustrating yes, but better than a dead router. A small router is not meant for doing heavy work, so you could say this makes it inferior to a big one, not at all, large powerful routers are heavy and unwieldy beasts and need both hands on the machine to control them, whereas this because of its unique design it is quite easy to operate single handedly; Another feature worth a mention on most festool appliances is that the power cord connects with a dedicated plug into the machine, which is a great boon if using more than one of their tools in that you haven't got extension cables running everywhere. I dont know what festool after sales service is like ,I have never had to use them !!. Ever since buying this now when I have to replace a power tool I do it with Festool, might seem expensive initially, but considering they last most other brands at least 3 fold there not; Simply the best.
