Carrichs TDK611 Tablet Dash Mount Compatible with 2007-2010 Wrangler JK for Apple iPad Mini 4

I purchased this iPad dash mount for my 2008 Wrangler a few months ago. Overall the installation was fairly easy. The instructions provided are accurate and easy to follow.Here are a few important issues I ran into:The usb outlet in the factory radio of my 10 year old Sahara Unlimited is not strong enough to charge an iPad. So I ran a lightning cable from the 12v outlet at the bottom of the center console behind the ac/heater dials and vents. (The center console will be opened up during installation so it’s not as bad as it sounds.)Also, two short 90 degree auxiliary cables were necessary because I also needed a ground loop isolator. (It’s a small audio component that will remove the static you hear when an auxiliary decive, in this case your iPad, and speakers, in this case your Jeep’s speakers, are using the same power source.) I used one 90 degree auxiliary cable from the factory radio to the ground loop isolator and another 90 degree auxiliary cable from the isolator to the iPad. The isolator I purchased is small enough to fit between the factory radio and the iPad without interfering with the fit. The cables and isolator are inexpensive. But...Another purchase you’ll want to make is a Bluetooth media remote control for the iPad. While it’s not completely necessary for the mount to do its job of holding an iPad Mini 4 to the dash of your Jeep, a Bluetooth remote paired to that iPad will change your life. I found one that came with a clip that fits perfectly on the steering wheel spoke. So there’s no need to remove the mounting kit or even touch the iPad to control the volume, play, pause, or skip songs.I definitely like the look of this kit compared to the other generic, universal tablet mounts. I’ve been using it for almost two months now and the magnets are holding everything in place perfectly.Other than the price, I’m really happy with this purchase. I almost gave it five stars until I did the math and realized there’s about $50 of additional parts I had to purchase to make it totally functional in my ‘08 JK. At $140 (for a piece of plastic) the auxiliary cables, isolator, maybe a good quality usb car charger, and Bluetooth remote should be included. With that being said, I think it’s worth repeating: I’m really, really happy with this purchase.

This is my second carrichs iPad dash mount for my Wrangler JK. I previously had the iPad mini 2, but opted to upgrade to the mini 5. I loved my mini 2 and dash mount, but they will no longer be updated. The dash mount is just as sturdy, and almost more contoured and streamlined compared to the earlier mini 1, 2, 3 model mount.Installation is simple. I added extra security to the magnets by using epoxy to glue them to the backside of the dash. I actually did not even have to remove the old magnets, just slapped the new dash on! Well worth the cost to mount the iPad to the dash. Some in dash stereos cost much more than this alternative! I get a lot of compliments and questions about the iPad when people notice it.

Worst thing ever please don’t waist your money on this.
