Childrens picture book would not recommend
Overall this is a very poor picture book containing very basic left leg, right hand information. It contains little regarding the Hung Ga history, system or it's training. The applications are somewhat comical but if u practise CMA such silly applications will make u pull your hair out wondering if books like these are trying to hide the real stuff or if they want to reduce CMA to the laughing stock of martial world.Example of one app in the book is - A punches B, B defends by jumping directly upward to remove his head out of the way which means his groin is now there instead! but because A is not really not punching B, A on the way down hits his head with his fist. This is because the applications shown are directly from the form rather than modifying the movements. If beginners see such things from experienced & repected teachers they might copy this and not realise that not even the author would use such tecs, this is clearly only for the public and not real use.Thank goodness for authors like Adam Hsu & Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming who present clear & open infomation that serves to educate and enlighten people how great the Chinese Martial Arts really can be.

Quite good, except the video is misleading!
Although the book is of the highest quality, the video is actually not an instyructional video on the tiger/crane form of hung gar kung fu!The book and video do not match. The book is the Tiger Crane form in photos, from the begining to end. The video is part of a video set, Volume # 3 from the Black Belt series Hung Gar Kung Fu. The video shows an over view of the style, and some self-defense and basic/intermediate patterns. The advertisement leads one to believe the matching video also is the complete form. Despite this, the video is a great learning tool, and the book shows the impeccable form of Tiger/Crane kung fu. I recommend this set for the intermediate to advanced martial arts enthusiasts. Beginners may be confused by the basics not being entered into to.The price is reasonable, considering the quality of the book and video.

Great introduction to the famous Hung Gar Kung Fu system.
This book contains all the moves of the famous Tiger and Crane form/kata of the Hung Gar system of kung fu.There are hundreds of photos detailing each of those moves. Moves of the tiger(the use of the hand as a tiger claw) and crane(hand imitating the crane wing and beak)are the nucleus of this form. There are also details photos of application of these moves in combat. However, I feel that there are a few improvements that can be made to this book. For one it should include basic conditioning methods used to condition the tiger claw and crane beak techniques to make them more destructive on execution.

a very ineresting way of teaching this form
this book is devided into two stages, one half showing the actual actions of the form and then on every other page there is a demonstration of how to put the movements into practice. it comes compleate with photos and instructions on every page, however i feel that the book could have done with more infomation on the strength and speeds that the actions require as this is missed out in this book. Oh, and a warning to all buyers, there are over 100 tiger forms with in the world of kung fu, make shour this is the one that you are actualy after
