This chuck is very well made in all regards. It opens and closes smoothly and it runs perfectly true. It's very heavy and seems extremely sturdy. Time will tell, but I'm confident this item will last longer than I will.

I am SO very impressed!
The media could not be loaded. I have been doing woodworking for nigh unto 40 years now and I’ve NEVER been able to do bowl turning until now! I’ve had a lathe and I’ve had the chisels… but all I’ve been able to turn is pens and handles and things long and narrow in shape.I’ve always WANTED a chuck for my lathe, but they are rather expensive. This wood lathe chuck by DEEFIINE is about half the price of wood lathe chucks that you’d get at the big name woodworking stores. So, quite honestly, I was a little bit apprehensive about ordering this one.Oh my goodness! Now… again, to be upfront with you… I don’t have much experience with wood lathe chucks… but I DO have a LITTLE bit of experience with them and this chuck ranks up there with the BIG NAME chuck that I have had the pleasure to use!The fit and finish on this chuck is VERY nice! I am very impressed with it. The mechanics are very sound and it is truly round. In my video… you can see that the round piece of poplar I have in the chuck out of round... but the chuck is PERFECTLY balanced and true round. There is not even one single bit of wobble or anything that would suggest it is out of round or not balanced properly.The grip that the jaws have on the piece was very tight and I did not have any fear at all of the project piece coming out of the chuck. It was exceedingly simple to use… AND it comes with the wood screw so that you can mount your piece of wood and turn the bottom of the bowl first in order to be able to mount the bottom into the jaws.It is a very heavy and stout chuck… definitely NOT a cheaply produced chuck that is made out of substandard materials.If you’re anything like I was and put off buying a chuck because of the cost… I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed in purchasing this one!
