Oh for goodness sakes - just give them a try for crying out loud
Found this test easy enough to decipher. Am I in ketosis or not? And that's basically what I found out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the drill - you don't really know unless you put the money into one of those breathalyzer thinggy's or the blood test thinggy. Great - I plan to get the blood meter but before doing that - and since I'm new to the Ketogenic lifestyle - I just wanted to gauge where I am right now. I'm in ketosis but boy do I need to drink a lot more water. Lots more! Thanks Ketone Strips. Yeah - I saw where folks were saying the urine strips aren't as reliable as the full blown blood meter test or the breathalyzer test kits - DUH! But you get 100 in the packet - and the instructions tell you right off to not sit on them like they're Britcoins - but to use them as the ketone strips come with an expiration date. Oh, and I didn't have to call customer service to tell me to - basically 'pee' in a cup, stick the tip of the strip in - wait 2 minutes and match the colors. You're either in or you're out. Now, I'm waiting on my blood meter - to prick my finger - in order to find out - verifiably, irrefutably, categorically - (insert 'air fingers' here) my ketone status. Whew! But I feel great, lost weight and am going to continue with the best lifestyle change for me - to lower my blood pressure without medication.

Item is old, not recently manufactured. It’s a no no with Keto strips.
This item is old. It is important with Keto strips to be recently manufactured because it looses its accuracy over time. This item was made in 2018 and expires in 2020 which is still far away, but another brand I ordered 3 months ago in April, was manufactured in March and expires in 2021. I rather not to order this brand again. It has been an Amazon product, no seller information.

Thicker, easier to take out of the tube, faster...just better
These are the best test strips. Because they use a slightly thicker stock, they're easier to get out of the tube. All manufacturers use this non-ergonomical small-diameter tube that's just a little too narrow for any but the smallest fingers to pinch a test strip out of. Hapless consumers with ordinary adult-sized fingers (like me) must tap a strip partway out of the tube to fetch it out. That's why the thickness and rigidity of the strip is important. Other brands use thin strips that bunch together like new twenties from the ATM. It's hard to get them to release, and many times you end up using a double without realizing it until it's too late. Not so with these babies. They're just the right thickness and rigidity to keep themselves separated inside the tube, so tapping them out one by one isn't a problem.

Not as easy to read as last brand I used
These are shorter to hold and the square at the end that chemically reacts is a little back from the top edge which for some reason makes them less easy to compare to the color chart. It seems like the paper used gives a ever so slightly shadowed color analysis? It seemed like a good value.

Perfect for testing for nutritional ketosis!!
If you’re going to test for nutritional ketosis- the strip brand does matter!! The super pale strip was purchased from Amazon about two months ago and the strips have been kept closed in a cool, dark place. The strip with the dark purple is Med Lab brand. I took both tests with the exact same sample, at the same time. I’ve been feeling frustrated every time I did a test strip since the rare times I’ve done blood tests it has always shown I’m in ketosis, but the urine strip never did! Now I know why. I don’t test often, but when I try a new sweetener or a new food I like to test just to check. Now I have a reliable trips to do that with. Way to go Med Lab!!

These Strips Did Not Read (BHB) Ketones for Me
There are 3 types of ketones that happen in the body when you go low carb...acetoacetate is created first, then hydroxybutyrate (BHB) is created from the acetoacetat and then acetone which is a spontaneously created side product of acetoacetate. Most urine strips only measure acetoacetate which is not the important ketone. You want the BHB to be measured.I don't believe these particular strips measure BHB because I used them for 2 weeks straight, twice per day and they read zero. I've been Paleo for 3 years so I am well into the low carb lifestyle. On Paleo I went from 156 lbs. to 119 lbs. in the course of 6 months. I didn't count carbs but I would guess I probably at maybe 50 per day.A few moths ago I decided to go a bit further and go Paleo-Keto so I still stick to everything Paleo but have cut my carbs even further from between 0 and 20 per day with under 100 grams of protein (eating too much protein will stop you from going into ketosis). These strips still read zero, nada, zilch!Took a urine test at the doctor's and found that my ketones level is (4.0) just like I knew it had to be.So if you're looking to get true results you're best off going to the doctor and getting a test or getting a blood meter which is WAY accurate.Having said that, the seller of this product is very nice, courteous and concerned about customer service. I received a refund and courteous service but I cannot, in good conscience rate this product higher because of that. These strips did not work for me so I can't recommend them to anyone else who is doing keto and seriously interested in knowing their true and accurate ketone levels.

Perfect! Takes the guesswork out!
I ordered these the first day I started my Keto diet. They arrived on the 3rd day of my diet and I tested about midway into ketosis (light plum colored) on that third day. My husband tested and his was the same. On the 6th day after starting I was in absolute ketosis (dark purple). I was pleasantly surprised. My husband, who had taken in just a wee bit of carbs that day had gone backwards... I mean, all the way back to the nude color. These strips really work and I need these to stay motivated with my new lifestyle. I will definitely buy more.

Sent close to expiring test strips.
I have used Ketone test strips before so I am not new to this. But these strips are only working a third of the time. I am full on carnivore right now so these should be reading very dark every time. I would say 1 in 3 is registering correctly. Perhaps it is the fact that they are close to expiration as you can see in the photo, they were manufactured on December 14, 2018. Which gives me only 4 months to use 150 test strips. I would not have bought them if I knew this before purchasing them.
