OtterBoxDEFENDER SERIES Case for iPhone SE (1st gen - 2016) and iPhone 5/5s - Retail Packaging - REALTREE AP PINK (WHITE/GUNMETAL GREY/AP PINK DESIGN)

I received this case about two weeks ago. I bought it before I bought the phone, because I want to put the phone in the case as soon as I get it (and I'll have it in about two weeks). Like they say, "Unbox it, then Otterbox it".But I tried it on my friend's iPhone 5 (which is the exact same size as the 5s), and I'm writing this review based on that (I'll edit once I get mine). I only had the case on my friend's phone for a couple of minutes, though, so keep that in mind.-The Fit: The case was incredibly snug on the phone. I actually heard a click when I put the back piece of the inner shell on the phone. I don't know if that'll be good long-term, but at least it means that the phone is secure in the case.-Screen Protector: I don't know why so many people are complaining about the screen protector getting in the way. I could easily operate my friend's phone with the screen protector on it. It worked just like it would with any other screen protector.-The Bulk: Maybe it's because this will be my first iPhone, but I don't think that the case makes the phone all that big. I could still operate the phone with one hand, with no problems. Also, maybe it's because I don't plan on carrying the phone in my pocket.-Button Use: I've also heard complaints about the buttons being hard to use. Maybe it was just me, but the volume and lock screen buttons worked like there wasn't even a case on them. So no complaints there.-Port Covers: I'll admit, the covers are a little tricky. The mute switch was sort of difficult to use, but it shouldn't be a really big problem unless you have really big fingers. And I actually didn't get to try out the headphone jack or the charger port, since she didn't have either of the plugs with her.(Now for the things that I couldn't test)-Touch ID: Considering that I don't have the phone yet, and my friend's phone was just a 5, I don't even know if the fingerprint scanner works within itself. I definitely have no idea if it works with the case. Also, the issue of the dust and moisture getting in through the hole wasn't something that I could test out, since I only used her phone for a few minutes.-Discoloration: Don't put in in your jeans pocket, especially not if the jeans are dark blue. It'll dye the outer shell of the case and ruin itSo, that's all I know. Like I said, I'll fill in the parts that I don't have any information on once I actually get the phone. Until then, however, I definitely recommend it, especially in the design that I got. The picture is crisp and beautiful and the colors are vibrant.

May 2021 - I had heard of otterbox from a friend, so this was the first phone protector I purchased. This came with a screen protector part of the whole product and a clip harness. I already had installed a screen "protector" so took that clear piece off (followed another reviewer on this), then put the rest of the box on the phone.UPDATE 1: May 2021 - It is still protecting my phone amazingly well 2 years later! The clip 'harness' is great! It clips well to the side of my pants. It's really tight, so it's hard for my hands to open the clip part wide enough to fit over a belt on the pants. I've clipped it to the sides of my pants, a purse, and in a pocket. The clip has a lip on it as well, so it does not slide off; in fact, it holds so tightly that it is sometimes difficult to take off. It has been and continues to be a great product. When the time comes, I will replace it with another Otterbox Defender product. I ALSO love the design and color - not too bright, well done, attractive, and easy to see that it's mine.UPDATE: MAY 2022 - the upper plastic "LIP" piece that attaches onto/into the phone to help hold it in the holster, broke off. The bottom two corners and belt clip still strong, but can't use it any longer due to the one top piece. I'm pleased that this has lasted so well. The cover itself is still going strong and I still prefer it to any other.

I purchased the Pink Real Tree pattern for my new iPhone se. I picked the Pink Real Tree because it was the cheapest and I liked that the back has no cut out to display the apple logo. I wanted to keep my phone brand more discreet plus I felt the cut out would allow my back plate to be scratched.The real tree pattern in made into the rubber. It cannot be scraped,ripped or peeled off. It can be safely wiped clean if needed with a damp cloth.This case has built in screen protector. The screen protector is thick plastic. It does not distort the screen. The touch screen works perfectly through the screen. There is a cut out around the home button so the finger print reader can work.I can feel the screen saver lifting ever so slightly. Also the cut out area for the home button lets dirt get under the screen saver. The edges around the screen are raised to protect the screen but it makes it hard to touch the edges of the screen with your finger. Not a deal breaker but worth mentioning.The case is three pieces. The inner two hard plastic pieces snap together around the phone. You then slightly stretch the rubber/foam around the case. The area above the charge port has only a small thin line of rubber. It feels slightly flimsy in that spot. It's not loose now because its new but I feel,it will stretch out later.Overall my phone feels very protected in this case. My brother swears by this brand. He has had three of them over the years on various phones. He has never had a broken screen or any damage with them in use. He is railroad track worker so his phones are always in tough environments.If you get bored with your cases color you can buy just the outer sleeve ( the slip cover) from OTTERBOXES website. The outer cover ( they call it a slip cover) sells for about $ 22.00. The fact that I could just refresh my case in future made me feel better about the high initial,cost.

Al principio, tengo que dar mi honesta opinión, no me gustó porque el color blanco de la parte de enfrente ¡es demasiado blanco! Por las fotos se ve un poco grisáceo pero en realidad no es así. Tiene protector de pantalla también que no se ajusta/pega al 100%, queda un poco floja entonces cuando escribo/ contesto mis mensajes se escucha como va golpeando la pantalla suavemente (nada de que preocuparse). Sin embargo, después de unos días de usar este producto terminó por gustarme mucho. Sé que es un buen producto donde la calidad es muy buena y sé que protegerá mi celular de la mejor manera.

Es una funda que si bien aumenta el tamaño del celular y oculta un poco su estetica, ofrece una excelente proteccion y mantiene intacto al celular.

Best case! My son threw my phone down a flight of stairs, dropped it on concrete, ceramic tile, splashed it with water etc. no problem. While playing Humpty Dumpty he tried to smash him (and my phone) on a concrete parking lot barrier....nothing happened! People cringe when they see the brutality my phone is exposed to but I don't bat an eyelash.If you have little kids you need this case! I bought knock offs and the rubber layer starts to come away from the phone in a few weeks. This one fits like new for years!!!! I bought this case a second time when I upgraded my phone.

I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and I'm very pleased. If you're clumsy like me, you want a sturdy case and this is perfect. I like the built in screen cover; my old phone had one of the stick-on covers, but this is smoother and more responsive. It's also light and very pretty.My only complaint is that the mute switch has a rubber cover over it, making it harder to switch on and off quickly. I may remove it myself. Overall, two thumbs up.
