What else needs to be said, this mainspring housing is made by Wilson Combat !! You can be assured if it's Wilson Combats product you will never be dissatisfied, i installed this piece on my Kimber/ Wilson Combat hybrid 1911 right after I received it back from Wilson Combat after having 1500.00 dollars worth of custom gunsmith work done and it really finished off the look and feel of my gun. Fantastic fit and feel but who would expect anything less from Wilson Combat

I bought this for a Colt Series 80 MKIV restoration project and was very impresses with the quality. The checkering was perfect and the finish was outstanding. A very small amount of filing was needed at mainspring housing/grip safety interface. This was expected and was very easy to do. This seller shipped fast. I would recommend this part to anyone wanting to replace the plastic mainspring housings that is common on many new 1911 pistols. Buy with confidence!

Required no additional filing/sanding for a perfect fit. The checkering, finish color and sheen a match with a Kimber TLE II Stainless. Replaced the factory plastic mainspring housing with this part, should have come with it.

Should be a drop in part ,maybe with a bit of fitting, not compatible with Colt gold crap lite.

My original mainspring housing was 15.54 mm, this one was 15.74, but 0.2mm makes a HUGE difference. I used some fine sandpaper on the little rails until it slid in without much force. The next issue was the top of the housing was going too tight against the beaver tail, thus either freezing it in safety or fire position + the hole at the bottom was off (pin would not fit, DO NIT JAM IT IN!). Filing it with a small, fine file down about 1mm+. When doing this I had to file a little, try, file more....rinse and repeat, until the beaver tail worked as expected and had sufficient clearance to move freely. At this point the hole on the bottom of the housing lined up perfectly. So in short, awesome product, look, function, but needs some elbow grease to get it fit right. Also 1mm is about 3/64 of an inch, just an easier measurement to work with in these small dimensions...

Wilson Combat SS mainspring housing dropped right in to my SA 1911-A1 with no fitting required. Very nice piece.

Lover the checkering to match Kimber's TLE's front checkering. Perfect side to side fit - nearly zero play. Length is a problem and requires a lot of material to be removed. First tried a stone and came close but it took a lot of time - couple of swipes with flat fine file to clean up the angle and make to flat. Polished on a 180 then 320 stone. Cleaned it up and it fits perfectly. Most of the aftermarket MSH are very dull and the stainless is very grey. This matches the Kimber frame in color and sheen. Also have a Nighthawk which is easier to fit - less material removal but the checkering is very aggressive.
