worked well on medium pile carpet
I've tried multiple casters to eliminate chair mats on my home carpeting. this is the first one that seems to roll well- even with my 250 pounds on it! - only used them for a week but they seem sturdy and well made. Can't predict the future though- I'll change my rating if they have any problems. I ordered two more sets for another office area and hope to eliminate all the chair mats I've been tripping over for years.... expensive, but will save me from another stumble....

Huge and Ugly but they work on carpet
They are hard to miss and make your chair look silly, but on a decent pile carpet like mine (see picture), they work wonderfully. I needed a chair I could move without stressing out my back and these roll pretty well. I tried the inline skate wheels and they are even better than them. Almost certainly overkill and thus not worth the expense for a thin carpet or a hardwood floor. But if you have a thicker carpet or a pad underneath and you want to be able to easily move your chair this is worth the price.

Warning: may overload your chair. Modification may be required.
These casters do exactly what they say. The wheels are double the diameter of regular casters, and thicker, too. They glide effortlessly over carpet, and add about 2 inches of height to your chair.Because they are larger diameter, and have an offset post to swivel, the effective lever arm between the post and axle is doubled also, which means it puts double the stress on the sockets that the posts fit into on the chair base, and in turn halves the total load the chair can support. This is a common weak point on many chairs with plastic bases, so if your chair supports, say, 300 lbs, and you are 160 lbs, after installing these wheels your chair will only be able to support 150 lbs before the plastic sockets will crack and deform under the load, causing the wheel to fall out and the chair to collapse.Depending on the construction of your chair, you may be able to prevent this by reinforcing the sockets. On many chairs the sockets are a small inner plastic tube, with plastic spokes on the outside connecting it to the larger outer shell of the chair base. Under stress the inner tube will break, because the spokes and air gaps on the outside aren't enough to withstand the extra torque force on the caster post. By filling the gaps between the spokes with a solid hardening epoxy like JB Weld, you can add additional reinforcement. Naturally the more you fill in, the stronger it is, and there is no guarantee of how much more load it will be able to handle, but it might just make the difference between smooth rolling and a broken chair.

Great wheels..Giant Wheels!!!
Wheel look better then expected. My chair looks like it ready for 4×4 Off-Roading. I sit at least 2 inches higher then before maybe even a little higher. Really smooth travel on rug. Great buy arrived fast.

Big wheels
What more do you need to know? They're big wheels that fit 99% of office chairs because it's a standard size fitting. I recommend them. The added some height on my chair because my desk wasn't quite low enough. They roll just fine like you'd expect. I bought these over the rollerblade style because many people have issues with those rolling TOO easily and they can't even stay in one spot to work at their computer because the chair floats around. These big wheels/castors of a standard size/design don't have that problem.

Great for increasing height of a chair
I bought a desk chair that I liked but was a little too short for my desk which had the standing desk accessory on it. It was super easy to change the wheels out to these and I was much more comfortable in my position in relation to the desk after doing so. The wheels are great quality and after having them for 4 months I haven't noticed any issues

Installs easy. Rolls easy. Added the right height for my Aeron chair.
I had pretty significant shoulder injury recently and needed to sit a bit higher above my desk than my Herman Miller Aeron would allow. I tried sitting a on a pillow for a couple weeks but it was not comfortable. in looking for better option I wondered if anyone made larger offie chair wheels. Bingo! These wheels added another 1.5" or so to the height, which was just right. Simply pull out the old ones and push these in. There's no wobble at all, and they roll very easily on my chair mat. My only complaint is the wheels were a bit grimy out of the box, almost as if they'd been used, though there no marks on the tread surface. I used some spray cleaner which made them acceptable, but knocking off one star for that detail.

These are GREAT! However, a word of warning for heavier people...
These wheels are great. I use them on a long pile shag carpet, and they have no problems rolling, turning, etc. However, for you heavier people like myself, you need to make sure that the chair base is extremely durable. I would not recommend using these on plastic or aluminum bases. Because these wheels are significantly larger, the point of contact with the floor is much farther away from the mounting point on the chair base than it is with standard wheels. Most manufacturers spec their bases for standard 2" wheels and don't expect wheels this size or larger to be used, so they don't account for the additional stress these wheels put on the base arms.My first base was aluminum and was supposedly rated for 350lbs. I'm only 200lbs, but after just a couple of days, all 5 arms had twisted about 15 degrees. I immediately ordered a new steel base, but a couple of days into waiting for it to be delivered, 2 of the arms on the aluminum base snapped off. I suspect a plastic base would not have lasted as long. The steel base I am using now has been great.

As happy now as sceptic I was before.
I tried different office mats, they all su... (were quite bad) on carpet deeper then 10 mm, until mat itself is 8mm+ which is actually piece of acrylic, which has it's own disadvantages and plenty of them. Didn't expect much from this wheels especially after quite mixed reviews, but ... This wheels are game changer for me. Im using them for several months now - chair moves almost like on the hard floor. IDK how long legs will hold, it is a legit concern, ok. (im 90kg btw) So far all good, if legs break I'll just buy another chair but I'm keeping this wheels as long as I have carpeted office.
