I took a chance on buying this product. I needed something that would create .mp3 from cassette tape. I have an apparently very rare set of cassettes that I love and have been wondering when they would become unusable for some reason and then lost forever. The goal for the conversion was completely self contained (needing no additional computer). This unit has both thumb drive and SD slot. Mu wife also has records (vinyl) of her mother working on air as DJ many years ago. These too are fragile and subject to loss. This is why I bought the this unit (it does cassette tapes and vinyl records). The unit is not fancy. There is no auto reverse. To minimize white space on the .mp3 file it's best to be nearby so you can eject and reverse the tape quickly. The recording seems to continue (as dead air) until the you actual press 'STOP'. This is crude but simple. I like simple. My 6 tapes copied perfectly. I plan to edit the raw recording with Audacity. The sound from the built in speaker is probably not hi-fi but is VERY CLEAR and with volume control can be too LOUD or any level you want. We have not recorded vinyl to mp3 yet. I plan to run the speaker volume on the low side to prevent disturbance of the tone arm. I did have one alarming experience. I didn't think, initially, to practice with a non sacred tape. I made an .mp3 from the first of my 6 special cassettes. This went fine but I was uncertain what started and stopped the .mp3 record etc. This resulted in a somewhat fragmented first try. It thne occurred to me I should dry run with a tape I don't care about. While experimenting this tape broke. I was horrified thinking it might have been one of my special tapes. After some investigation it occurred to me that the tape that broke was from the early 1970s and on inspection seems to be brittle. My special tapes are from the early 2000 and are in visually better shape. In the end, since I was confident I new how to get my .mp3 files I went ahead and recorded all 6 cassettes in one morning. I loaded the files on my phone and have been enjoying them immensely. I seldom take the time to review an item purchased from Amazon but this one deserves 5 stars in every way. If you like complicated and expensive electronics then this item is not for you. If you simply want to convert cassettes to .mp3 without needing an attached computer this is the equipment for you.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this product! We purchased this to put in our son's room, as we wanted to share the records and cassette tapes we used to listen to as kids with him. My expectation was that the sound quality would be mediocre at best. However, it sounds great! There is a very noticeable lack of base tones, but for us, this is not an issue as the player will mostly voice kid material. Records and cassettes play great; no scratching or catching. The only thing that we found a little frustrating is every once in a while, you'll hear a slight hum. This is because the speaker is so close to all the other electronic mechanisms in the product that feedback is inevitable. It really is impressive how much they've included in such a reasonably-sized item. We are very please with this purchase, and have considered buying another as a gift for a family member. Highly recommended!

I found that sometimes the first track on an 33LP would distort. It is usually only noticeable for soft long notes. (My hearing isn't what it used to be, so it might be worse for true audiophiles). I followed the manufacturer's instructions regarding reseating the turntable belt, and it helped, but not in all cases. It seemed to help to let the turntable spin for a while before dropping the needle, but I didn't care enough to research it to see if that helps in all cases. (It might also be that the albums are not flat any more after all these years., but, again, I don't care enough to test that theory) Also, I found that I couldn't bring the recordings into Roxio software because it did not recognize the files as mp3's, but I took care of that by recording entire the entire album into one mp3, transferring to a computer, adding the long mp3 into iTunes, then File-->Convert-->Create MP3 Version. This new mp3 I could open with Roxio and split into songs, remove album pops, etc., and then copy the mp3's back into iTunes. A little lengthy, but what else to do in Covid weekends? :) Since I'm only listening to these in my car on long trips, or when working around the house, being perfect quality isn't that important to me at the moment. It's just nice that music I listened to years ago will now be available to me (I have a lot of albums that never made it to CD). Still, I'm glad I bought this, and I would again. I gave it a 4 for sound quality because I had a few CD's in my library, and copied same song from an LP, and had my son listen to both, and he always liked the CD version better. But, while I can hear a difference when playing both side by side, listening to the music as background will be just fine for me.

I purchased the record player combo about seven months ago.I was so excited to get it When I first played it, I played it with my new record from Michael Jackson, It worked fine. The sound did not get very loud but it was clear. I didn't try the cassett, am/fm radio, bluetooth, etc., I wanted to hear music from a vinyl. I noticed the speakers would work here or there, then I tried to turn it up and the speakers would vibrate and the sound was very mufffled, like a vibrating bass. The lid of the record player came off and I worked hard to fix it but, I could not fit the round plastic peg back in it's slot. If I press too hard on the peg or the slot would break. The lid is still in one place but, not conneted. Lastly, today just prior to making the video, I heard a squeaking noise when I replaced the needle in its slot. The plastic closest to the edge of the record rubbed against it.The device has been slowly geting worse. I gave it a rating scote of a two because of the issues. Holley

I wanted a cheap device that could play a large bag full of audio cassettes I bought from the local Salvation Army. This device had pretty good reviews and at a little over $50, I could get the option to listen/ record to the tapes as well as radio and LP's. So I took the plunge and I am currently listening to The Cars Greatest Hits as I am writing this review. The sound quality of the speakers in the unit is just O.K. They are nothing special but functional. However, the unit sounds excellent through my headphones. I will say the cassette functionality is very basic. You can put a cassette in and play it but there is no way to pause the tape, stop it, rewind, or fast forward. The only way to stop the tape is to eject it. This doesn't bother me as much as I wanted the machine more for the nostalgia of playing these old tapes and to experience the albums. However, I was surprised there wasn't a bit more functionality included. The tapes also will not auto flip. You must take the tape out, flip it and reinsert to hear music on the other side of the tape. So for a basic player, it will be fine for what I intend to use it for. However, if you want more out of a tape player then I would look elsewhere.

I got this to transfer music from LPs to mp3s and was frustrated at first because the "REC" button did not seem to do anything. The customer service was amazingly fast and helpful. "Vivian" at DIGITNOW had me format a USB drive in FAT32 (I used a 2GB since some customers say there's a 4GB cap on max drive size). The trick then was to copy an mp3 onto the drive and put it into the unit and cycle through sources until it came to USB. Then press play. At that point the mp3 on the USB stick started playing. With that working, I followed Vivian's advice and pressed STOP and switched to another audio source. At that point I pressed "REC" and it began recording, indicated by "REC --> USB" on the display. Afterwards I checked on my computer that the recording had indeed worked and it was great. Bear in mind that, for $70, the speaker output is little more than functional but, for the price, you get a hell of a lot of functionality (vinyl, tape, AM, FM, mp3, bluetooth) and built-in ability to make mp3s from any of those source. Pretty amazing. And with the INCREDIBLY helpful customer support this is an easy purchase to make if you need its capabilities.

A friend asked me to digitize an old lp that a family friend had made for Christmas. After checking with numerous local sources and finding nothing, I searched Amazon and found this turntable. I am not a computer wonk, but found it so easy to use. Very small investment. Multi function. Reproduction quality good, although my record was very clean and mostly a spoken-word retelling of A Christmas Carol. Less cumbersome than my vintage Technics system for playing my old vinyl.. No CD but once the vinyl is digitized, you can use a separate CD burner if you have one.
