Great shoe, but order 1-2sizes down from your actual size!
so i wanna start out with the fact that these shoes are great, very well made. i'm using them for my Ranma 1/2 cosplay and they're perfect. but i should have listened to the other reviews saying to order 1-2 sizes down from your actual size. i had measured my foot and it was exactly at the inch size for the size labeled 39 but when they arrived they were too loose. so i returned them and ordered the 38 instead (i could honestly have gotten the 37 bc these are still a little roomie but way more manageable) it was super easy to do the return and refund process too. but definitely order at least one, if not two, sizes down from your actual size

Just what I needed for my plantar fasciitis.
I had been searching for some T'ai Chi slippers that wouldn't aggravate my plantar fasciitis which has been making my practice difficult. I noticed a visiting teacher wearing this type of shoe and decided to give them a try.The open top plus a slight oversize allows room for a supportive insole which is a huge relief! The sole is a pleasant surprise. I have used the layered cotton sole for years and feared that the treaded plastic sole would stick too much, and they did at first, but after a few weeks, they have smoothed out nicely. They aren't as slick as cotton soles but I can do "turn and kick with heel" and "sweep lotus" without torquing my knee.I look a little weird in class as I am the only student wearing this "Chinese style" shoe but I don't care. This is the answer I was looking for.Material and workmanship is comparable to other T'ai Chi slippers and I expect the same wear.Definitely will reorder.

Scroll down for accurate sizing
Size chart update- There's multiple charts listed but scroll down to description by company and close to end is the size chart that reflects what they send. On that chart I needed to order a 7 to get the 39 that I wanted. The link for size listing at the top is not accurate.Nice for what they are but the sizing is difficult. I ordered the 6.5 because the size chart listed said that was a 39. What I got was a pair labeled 38 so they are a half size short and are not wide enough across my toes. i do have wide toes so for a normal or narrow these are nice. For quality and materials they are as described.

Upper fabric isn't elastic; bottom is nice and flat; be sure to measure your feet
I have a love-hate relationship with these shoes.Pros:-These shoes are very flexible. You can fold them (reasonably) without breaking them and stack them on top of each other.-These shoes are very flat (with maybe a slightly elevated heel). They make for good weight lifting shoes as a result.Cons:-They smell like they came from a petroleum factory when I first got them. It took a few days to air them out and they still left a chemical smell on my socks when I wore them.-The fit is very odd. The top fabric is non-elastic fabric. Putting your foot in is actually kind of difficult because there is no stretch to the shoes' uppers, but removing them is awkwardly easy because they do not grip your heels at all. If you were to swing your leg and point your foot in midair, as if you were going to kick something, the shoes will get close to slipping off, or will slip off.-Despite the bottom patterning, these shoes are not grippy. I recommend keeping them clean on the bottom to maximize grip. Otherwise, these might be dangerous and slippery if you wear them on a polished wooden dance floor (I speak from personal experience).I usually wear men's US size 10.5-11, depending on the brand, and I thought sizing was correct. Despite what others say, if you measure the length of your foot like they mention in the product description pictures, you should be able to get the correct size. I confirmed this with customer service, who was prompt in answering my questions about sizing. You really should measure your foot on a piece of paper. Ultimately, I got size 10.5 for my 270-275 mm length feet.Ultimately, sizing issues aside, I do not recommend these shoes if you plan to do vigorous movement in them (like running, kicking, or dancing). The grip over the foot and on the floor is just not good enough. However, if you only plan on walking in them or doing activities that require little foot movement (like weight lifting), these are great shoes if you can get over the chemical smells in the beginning. With the appropriate activities in mind, these shoes might be good for you.

True to size!!
Absolutely love these! However, I wasn't sure which review to listen to. One said true to size, one said order a size up, another said order a size down. I ordered 2 sizes up to be safe and they're VERY roomy. I ordered these for my Ranma 1/2 cosplay so I need them to fit a bit snugger. I'll be gifting this pair to my fiance and ordering my actual size very soon!

Sizing is most critical!
Size 43 is way too small for my 10 1/2 foot. I wish - after so many years of making these - that the folks that make them would have a more user friendly system of measurement. I can't give a rating yet, as I haven't been able to put the shoe on yet!! Grrrr. I hope I can return this, otherwise I'll just try again I suppose.

no padding in the bottom
look cute, really can't wear them for long, after about an hour of walking in them my son chose to walk barefooted.
