Fish eat it like it's going out of style!
I bought this as we have an all organic aquaponics set-up and we wanted to keep the fish organic as well. We bought fingerling tilapia, and at first I thought the size of the food would be too big for them to swallow. Not so. Tilapia are pretty darn tenacious and they gobble this stuff down. These fish were timid at first until I fed them this food, and now they wait out in the open for me to feed them. I think I saw a couple take a number to wait their turn! So far there has yet to be even the tiniest crumb left floating in the tank after they feed. The fish food will float then eventually sink, but my fishes appetites are so voracious the pieces don't get a chance to sink. This product comes with an organic guarantee and explanation in detail about what's in it. I was impressed when it is, after all, only fish food. It's also a Prime item and I received it within two days. Very pleased. And now it's so much fun to watch the water roil as if I have Piranha attacking...well, you get the picture. Oh my, I haven't seen my cat lately! Here kitty, kitty, kitty!

It works
I've been using this product for 1 year now. It works fine and my fish are healthy as long as the water is well filtered and the temp is above 70 degrees. However, this food does break up into fibers quite a lot when the fish chew and spit it out. Also, I noticed that when I switched to this product from Hikari and Dainichi Cichlid food, my fish became timid and less friendly.

Koi, Goldfish, and even wild Bluegill take to it fast.
I just bought this fish feed for the second time. I have fed it to everything from Koi, Goldfish, and wild Bluegill. All ate it with a passion. The worms and plants in my aquaponics system did well also. Only down side I have seen is that the seller runs out of stock from time to time. Probably for a reason. lol

Gritty texture and makes a mess of the water at every feeding
My fish like the food, but it really doesn't seem to break down/digest well... i can see the vegetable fibers with the naked eye and very gritty so the roots of my plants get food sediment on them and at this point very difficult to keep clean. After running out I fed them the left over Aquasport food (not organic) and the water seems to be much better now but ultimately i would like to find an organic food that doesn't make so much sludge.

One of the few to offer USDA organic fish feed! (UPDATE: Or maybe not. See comments)
Your options are pretty slim when it comes to organic fish food. After all, how many people actually care? YOU DO if you have an aquaponics system and care what goes into it. Aquaponics is great since it is such an enclosed system and it is as organic as it gets. Your only input is water and fish food. And because of that, you might as well make those two things as quality as you can make it.Depending on how big your fishes are (mine are less than 2 inches) 5lbs is a lot of food. I did wish that it wasn't so expensive and that they used a flat rate box to ship, but after all it is USDA organic certified (so the description says) and pounds of shipping. The pellet size is roughly a centimeter which is too big for my fish, but it can either be broken into smaller pieces or can be soaked in water and become soft enough for the fish to pick at it. My comet goldfish fish are hungry but they don't seem too excited about the food. Perhaps its like having your children eat veggies.I wish I had a way to actually test the ingredients etc but I do take the companys word for it. In all I recommend this product to anybody with an aquaponics system.
