Q: how long is the probe cable

Extech 401014 received April 2020. Probe wire appears to be approx 8 feet long.

Q: Does it have Celsius Degrees too?

My unit has a switch in the back to read Celsius - maybe double check.

Q: can I order extra wires for the outdoor read, I would really like a longer wire

Well... actually TC (thermocouples) work by generating a small mV (milli-volt) signal at the junction of 2 dissimilar metals created from the material of the 2 wires itself. Each wire has it's own material type. It's thermocouple wire, not regular copper. As a result, the temperature reading is usually affected by having any other metal junction in series with it such as a 2nd solder joint. That means the sensor is not really a discrete sensor or piece of hardware at the end. The TC joint made from the wire material is the sensor. It's getting the voltage signal from the small welded joint of 2 metals precision bonded together at the end. Adding another joint inline with the real sensor usually affects the accuracy. Any additional solder joint has to be very pure and clean to avoid changing the TC signal.

Q: Can you put the cable through a window or do you need a hole in the house?

You need a hole but you can make the hole in the frame of the window. Something similar to a phone or cable wire coming in the window frame or base.

Quite a large screen easy to see

Quite a large screen easy to see. Indoor and outdoor display with max min settings saved. Seems good quality. However slow delivery - original "lost in post" according to company.

Poor outdoor readings

Did not give accurate outdoor reading. After a few weeks the outdoor readings kept on going up and down from 5c up to 20c the actual temp was 6c.Waste of money.
