Mule rule!
A dirty rock album like no other- like Creedence Clearwater Revival fed through the decent side of grunge and played with a joyous, reckless abandon! There's a definite preachers son/hard drinkin' Southern boys thing going on- emphasized by a little comic that comes with the album about how Mule got together ("In no time at all, the Mule boys kicked up flies from both sides of the tracks"). Tracks like 'Mississippi Breaks' and 'Lucky' were designed for drinkin' liquor and dancing like you're at an indie/punk barn dance while 'Now I Truly Understand' is a surprisingly sweet acoustic number. Having said that there ain't much 'sweet' about Mule...they're drunk, angry and looking for trouble....it's a whole lotta fun and a shame they're fairly obscure...If you like the Jesus Lizard, Creedence, Big Black and a good ol' ho down you may just love this album!...

Hell yeah!
"We left town to the sound of buckshot rain"...possibly the best opening lyric ever laid down.
