I bought this to replace an older TBS twin tuner card, as I needed 8 tuners. You may think eight tuners is excessive but it's not. Remember if you want to record two TV programmes on the same channel next to each other timewise, you need two tuners to avoid one of the programmes being cut. So if you are recording a number of programmes near each other and across multiple channels at the same time, I would recommend a minimum of four tuners. More if you record a lot of programmes.Picture quality and signal strength are better than my old card as well. It has an onboard fan, which can be heard running, but it's not very loud.I'm taking off a star for two reasons. Firstly the installation instructions are unclear. There's a power wire included that needs attaching to a SATA cable so extra power is supplied to the card. There's nothing in the instructions about this.Secondly, I left a phone message to the seller asking me to contact me about the power cable (contact details were in the package). I did not receive a response, however. Service is important to customers.
