Good book for young builders-to-be
Bought this as a present for a young female relative who loves anything to do with building. Nice, detailed illustrations and I like the way it shows the progress over time on the building site. Also good how the child can spot different things on the pages. It could do with some female builders or tradespeople as I haven't noticed any in the book. This is why I deducted one star.

Gran's moments of pleasure.......
......... sitting with my two 6 and 7 year old grandsons as they studied the wonderful drawings to find the workers. Watching them discover how a building site works and how each trade is added to enable the building to progress. A fantastic book for all children who are interested in their surroundings and an education for Grans, too!

A much loved book.
My farming-mad son has read this book so much it has fallen apart, so I can safely say it's rather good. Things to spot on each page as the book progresses through the year. Lovely. We also have the Construction Site book which is in a similar state!

Nice but small
This book is very nice and very interesting for kids. But the size is too small, the pages thin.

Not great for a search and find book
My 2 year old loves all things construction, but both he and I are disappointed in this book. The scale of the drawings and the style of detail makes it hard to tell what’s happening in a lot of the scenes, and I’m a construction administrator so I can’t help but cringe at all of the safety hazard / accident humour. I was also disappointed that we don’t get to see the final product at the end of the book!

liebevolle Gestaltung
Wir haben bereits das Buch "A Year at a Construction Site" und mein Sohn liebt beide Bücher sehr.

great book with wonderful drawings

Toll
Die Kinder lieben diese Bücher. Es ist immer was los. Die Zeichnungen sind schön und wie ein wimmelbuch zu betrachten. Sprachlich auch ein toller Input

Great fun but not necessarily for the age group listed...
The book is listed for the '5 and up' crowd, but I would recommend it more for the 4-8 year old with a particular interest in all things construction. The pictures are packed with fascinating little details that are fun to look around and hunt for. For example, there is someone eating in every picture though there is one page that I haven't found the guy/gal yet! The action covers the demolition-through-construction of a new school over the course of the year. Not all months are shown, but each one has a nice theme (ie placing the floors).I would have found this perfect for my oldest when he was young...he was an avid fan of construction (I'm pretty sure that was his first word), but I bought it for my more 'builder minded' 10 year old. He was unimpressed. Really, this was only due to his age and I actually had fun going through it.So, highly recommended for the happy construction/builder fans, but I would say for the 4-8 year olds with the younger ones looking at it with their parents.JTG

Easily accessible for boys and girls.
This is a wonderful search-and-find book for preschool-age and up. It's colorful, busy, and detailed, but not overwhelming. A lot of construction books seem gender-biased for boys, but this is easily accessible for boys and girls. I think it has something for everyone. I read the description and thought it would include each of the 12 months of the year, but it only covers 8 months. So, just keep that in mind - it's more of a seasonal look at the construction site rather than a true month-by-month.

Great wimmelbook about construction, but note that it's paperback not hardcover
Only cons - it's paperback, I would be completely happy if it has hardcover (as kids books becomes shabby so fast).Besides that, it's high quality printing, detailed pictures, with a little bit of humor, shows a construction process on all main stages. Kids love to search special objects (like fog and eating man on every book spread, and different others - concrete mixer, hammer, builder with window frame and etc). This book will be interesting for kids age 1.5 - 8.

A great book for a youngster to identify with the various stages of building construction
It's not often that a 4-yr old can identify with the various stages of building construction, but this booklet allows just that. It's real-world approach to the various stages and what to look for relates to what is seen as we drive by construction sites to reinforce what we have just read. I don't know if he will be an architect or civil engineer, but this book is a great start to learn about how a building comes together.

Great but why not all the months?
Really nice, couldn't believe how intent he was on finding each object. He just turned 3 & we spent a solid half hour pouring over this book & then he flipped back through when done. My only suggestion is, if it's a year & there's a calendar on each page, why not do each month? A little extra learning opportunity for a couple more pages. Struck me as odd not to do them all given the title.

FUN & CHALLENGING
particularly liked the opening page instructions in which it tells what additional things to look for OTHER THAN the pictured match items - like: "there's always somebody eating something". This ups the game for the child - it's not just about finding a match to the picture.

Great for new readers, and solo book time (but where the rooster?)
My three year old enjoys books, but primarily wants to read together. These books (along with the OWLY illustrated stories) are the only ones he will dig into on his own. How fun! He narrated the book to me on a 30 minute car ride the other day, and then fell asleep with the book on his chest. That's a first. He's a big rooster fan, and we are growing are own veggies, so I figured the story of a farm would be fun... However, I'm giving it 4 stars for format. Illustrations are detailed, captivating, and bright. Our stories and interpretations keeps evolving as we explore the pictures together. A lot of parties happen on this farm! My son likes seeing what the tractors are up to in each picture. Only complaint is that I haven't found a rooster anywhere yet... lots of chicken and eggs, so one would thing he'd be hiding somewhere.

The best toddler pocket book about construction ever!
My son has gone crazy about construction sites etc after getting this book. He has been reading it again and again and again every day and before going to sleep - it's very colorful, has lots of tine details about construction site and gives a toddler an opportunity to look at construction inside. You can easily tubularize it and put into women bag, so we take it anywhere if we go with our son.The only issue that confused me - there was some wrong picture, I don't remember which one as I don't have the book beside me. Smth with pipes I guess... or electricit... The point is that the real process differs from the one that is pictured. Anyways, we have explained our son that the painter had made a mistake and that it (mistake) may happen with anybody)))

Our 4 yr old grandson LOVES trucks & construction stories. He LOVES finding all that's going in in these pages!
fun and busy pictures with SO MUCH DETAIL for little boys to discover what goes on in a construction site. You can never find all of the activity - always something new. Really gets their little minds thinking, but also gives them a very real picture of what's required to build something and what's going on in our world around us. Definitely creative and inspirational.
