Disappointed
I bought the second edition of the book to learn how to create basic charts, and the hands-on practice examples were great. I decided to buy this third edition, hoping that more information on calculations would be provided. I was very disappointed by this book. Yes, it has been updated to accommodate Tableau 10 users. However, the information on calculations is very limited. There are some short examples, but there's no practice data to reinforce the concepts. I REALLY hope that the next edition would expand on the calculations topic. I might need to look into other Tableau books.

Great resource for improving Tableau proficiency for healthcare analysts
Don’t let the title fool you. The HealthDataViz team who wrote this book, The Best Boring Book Ever of Tableau for Healthcare, make learning to use Tableau engaging by including relevant examples from healthcare and make it easy-to-follow through meticulous lay-out of the instructions. The examples include downloadable datasets from the HealthDataViz.com website to provide hands-on experience completing the exercises for those who have access to Tableau. This book delivers three things in one package: Tableau training that includes exercises with step-by-step reviews at the end of each chapter; data visualization tips and techniques from the authors who are dataviz experts; and examples that healthcare analysts can build on for real-world applications. In sum, this book is valuable as an ongoing reference long after using it initially as a text for learning how to use Tableau in a healthcare setting.

Super handy reference
Lifesaver if you are new to Tableau. Reads like a College text book, but nice to have. If your work is locking search windows and preventing multiple tabs, you will be glad you have this manual. (And yes, in the year 2020, there are companies doing Luddite maneuvers-who also want great dashboards)

Great for learning about Tableau!
This book has been great for learning Tableau! The healthcare examples make it easy to learn with data sets that make sense to me. Each exercise builds upon itself, so I was able to go at my own pace, and after having worked through the book, it still serves as a great reference when I need a refresher on a Tableau viz or technique. My book came in great condition with nice big pictures and helpful call outs.

A good purchase and read
This book is provides the reader with a good understanding Tableau for healthcare and here's why:* Healthcare data makes the examples relatable to healthcare professionals* Step by step instructions with the fine points of how to create really great graphs is like no other book -- great approach to presenting the material* You can open the book to any chapter and be able to create the chart type from start to finish* Love the HDVIZOOM summary at the end of each chapter* You can download the data from the HDV website for all of the examples in the book* Inclusion of summary best practices is terrific -- because the tool is never to the total solution -- you also need to understand data visualization and this book addresses that

Great Tableau tutorial. Well structured and covers a LOT.
Great book for someone wanting to learn Tableau, and, for more experienced users wanting to up their game. Extremely well documented, very easy to follow, and, very thorough explanations all the way through. The book covers a LOT of ground - highly recommended.I've been using Tableau for 10 years, and, am a Tableau officially designated Zen Master - I learned quite a few things from this book.Do not let the "Healthcare" part in the title fool you - the book uses healthcare data, easily understood by everyone, but, all examples and processes are applicable to any industry.

Two Stars
More of a how to create basic reports rather than advanced insight on calculations and dashboards.

Received new w/unglued pages
I disliked receiving a brand new book with pages having not been glued or printed properly, especially when paying over $40. Rating is based on physical quality of book.
