Harry is fed up with the massive hill climb every day after school on his bike, so he modifies his and Lou's iconic Chopper bicycles to enable them to take a dubious shortcut through the woods. As winter draws in they are unaware that they are being watched from afar by two horrid poachers out in the woods lamping. Both Harry and Lou end up running scared, but not so scared, it turns out, as the two poachers who encounter ghostly aliens flying across the face of the moon. The second story, Daft Harry And The Disobedient Cow is set in midwinter after heavy snowfall. Harry, Lou, Ena and Sheeptick experiment with homemade sledges and snowmobiles leading to hilarious scenes. Finally, Sheeptick gets stuck inside a ten-foot snowdrift and must rely on Harry's Daft ideas to get him out of trouble. The rescuers enlist the help of three cows in their ambitious rescue plan. One beast, however, cannot be persuaded to play along with Harry's bonkers scheme. Undeterred, Harry continues the daring rescue attempt, with Harry's spiteful sister, Lou expecting disaster to befall her brother. In the end, it is she who ends up on the receiving end and in the big mess this time around. Both of these magazine style books, are set in 1970's Lincolnshire and offer full colour illustration by local artist Ann Kilroy
