Amazing sound
I really like this for work around the house and cooking. For travel I'll use one of my earbuds. This use to be my top headphones. When I got some HD800s headphones it was put on the shelf and perhaps sold. This little device put some life back I to them. I'm going to match them to my phone so one less device to carry.I really like the clip on battery. It will work with a light battery and the clip-on put on the charger. It clips over the other battery/dac-amp and provides power quickly

Doesn't work on anything with the battery attached.
Review edit. Sorry. So using the the jack on my phone does result in the loss of something. I dont feel like the sound is coming from behind my teeth. But there is this annoying audio popping that happens regularly. The day on my phone might muddy things a bit, but popping is a no go for me.The battery is required for iPhone. This is supposed to be an iPhone certified device, but it won't work on anything with that battery attached. The lights on the amp flicker slightly with the battery attached. Then nothing works.Red light shows on the impacto when connected to iPhone and will not work.Just glas its my wife’s phone that is an iPhone and my phone is android. At this point for this price it has to go back.×

Clinical sounding Impacto requires a converter for universal usage.
First, you will need an adapter to use with various headphones other than the intended Beyerdynamic headphones. Second, this dac/amp consumes a lot of portable, cell battery rather quickly. Sound~ analytical, critical listening, bass and vocal emphasis, great detail in all instruments. Overall, enjoyable. It is great that you can plug directly into a smartphone. Volume is great. I even used it at the gym, as the connection remains stable even during physical exercise. To conclude, this is a dac/amp made for specific headphones, but you can get enjoyment with other headphones as long as you deal with the inconvenience of imperfectly fitting adapters. This is a clinical sounding dac/amp with high resolution; all the instruments and vocals are clear and presented in a forward manner with reference type sound. Essentially, you are converting your headphones into a reference type. If that is something you want, then I recommend the Impacto.

Not worth it
Didn’t seem to do much. I’d recommend a different DAC/AMP

Sounds awesome
I bought this to connect my iPhone to my Beyerdynamic T1.2 and it works great. Plenty of volume and easy to use. The battery lasts a long time on a charge. I also used this to stream my iPhone to my Marantz old school stereo. I hook this up to my Schiit Modi3 and then to line in on my receiver. It's a great DAC.

Short life
When this works, it works quite well to run my T1. However, I had to have the first unit replaced due to spontaneous failure, and my replacement unit just failed similarly. I didn't actually use the device all that much, so it is very disappointing that this has happened. If Beyerdynamic could make this more robust and fix whatever is causing the failure, I'd give this 5 stars.

Wire durability
Great so far. The only issue I see in the future for this dac is the wired cables durability. It seems like it could eventually get twisted and break if your traveling. I hope that doesn't happen.

Cool portable dac/amp
I use it with T1. The sound stage is undisputed, no kidding. As a minor thing - skiping tracks doesn't work on my macbook. Might need to dig into settings.

The most amazing (smallest)portable DAC/amp unit I have used.
The media could not be loaded. Brought this back in December 2017For technical details check amazon description/ beyerdynamic website. Check photo/ video for unboxing. This review will be my opinion only- brought with my own money.I will keep this review short. Long and short of- it’s an excellent little portable Dac&lier- smallest I have and sounds really really good.I have used it for several months before writing this review; The good:Small, very portable; impressively portableSound quality comparable to OPPO HA2SE and as good as Fiio X7 Am5 (amplifier 5 module).Works really well with Amiron, T5p and T1 ( both gen 2 detachable cable) also work with Sony z7 and Sony Z1R. My favourite combo is with the beyerdynamic amiron Home headphone.Sound is not as good as desktop high end headphone amplifier, but for portability this is the best you ll get for this price range or below £500.Build quality- Great - German build. One charge lasts 6-8 hrs. Full charge takes similar time to charge the battery module (universal unit only-essential version doesn’t come with battery pack and hence even smaller)The badOnly universal version will work with Apple products; as the essential version will draw too much power off device and essential version will work with android devices.Due to the way it’s built they are designed to work with selected Beyerdynamic headphones only; for such a good dac/amp unit- this should have been allowed to be used with a dude range of headphones- such a shame about restricting use with certain headphones.Bottom line- if you have the right rig for this amp/dac unit- for portability it’s the best combination you ll get. It’s as good as my oppo HA2 SE ( about the same price) but way more easily carried around. The only advantage HA2SE has is- can use with any headphone of DAP or mobile phone.Other than his I have nothing bad to say about this little unit- it’s sheer brilliance.JUST make it compatible with other headphones and other DAP, and this will have no competition at present! Thanks for reading my review. Hope it helps someone making a buying choice for a portable dac/amp unit. It does sound truely amazing with the right setup!
