I bought this for my dog's litter of puppies. I like how there's multiple settings for how long it stays on, so it can be used again for other things. But for use with the puppies I just left it on the 'permanently on' setting, on the highest heat level 6. The cover is washable which is plus. The cable is covered in a metal so the pups can't chew through it which is another highlight. I put the pad underneath a layer of vetbed and a puppy pad and it still kept everything warm nicely. Would recommend.

I have ordered two of these and put them in doghouses for outdoor semi feral cats. Like one reviewer emphasized, it won't feel warm to the touch. To check how warm the pad is after setting the temperature, put something on top of it with a bit of weight, like a cushion or small pillow. Then go back after an hour or so and feel underneath the cushion ... should be a little toasty! This is what the cat or dog's body weight will do.The first heating pad has been working perfectly for many months, and I can set the timer and the temperature depending on the weather. I am very pleased with this product - and the cats seek it out on chilly nights.

Dog loves the warmth from the mat. I only use level 2 from 7, which provides background heating under the bed. The cable length is adequate.
