I love Geo’s TikTok stories, so I was really excited to purchase this book to read with my 9-year-old. The book does not disappoint. The first surprise with Spooky Lakes is the size. It is much, much larger than most books on our shelf. But I’m so glad it’s big, because it allows us to really see the detail in the illustrations. My son was captivated by the stories and it has sparked lots of great conversations.My one caution: this book is marketed as a middle-grade book, but I think many middle graders will find it challenging to read. My 9 year old is very bright and within the targeted age demographic for this book, but I think he would struggle to comprehend all of the text on his own. We stopped many times to clarify what some words meant, or provide important background info. I think the age range suggested is optimistic; I would expect a typical 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader to become frustrated pretty quickly by the vocabulary in the book. However, it’s definitely a high-interest topic. Even though my gifted 4th grader needs help accessing this info right now, he is fascinated. I can definitely see him reading this book over and over again, well into middle school and high school.Mostly I feel like every school library and every gifted classroom needs a copy of this book. For curious kids and people who like to dive into obscure facts, this book is a treasure trove of topics.

I have been a big fan of Geo since last October following along with her spooky lake series on tiktok. This book is so beautifully illustrated and put together. I can't say enough about it!! AMAZING!Also just watching her put all the time and thought into it. It's truly a work of art and I had to support her.She also hid little spooky ghosts in her illustrations. Not that I have kids but it's kid friendly!I will cherish this purchase!

I love everything about this book. Firstly, its large which makes it easy and fun to read and enjoy the fantastic artwork that is included throughout.Each entry is unique and contains a great wealth of interesting information and facts about some of the spookiest hydrology that you'll come across.You can easily tell the author spent time creating a great story and providing a fun level of detail. If you are fan of the tiktok series this won't disappoint.

I finally got to read it after waiting so long for it to be released, it is amazingly written and very informative! I can’t help but read the pages in Geo’s voice, which makes it even better. The paintings on each page are absolutely beautiful and you can tell a lot of time went into the book, I also loved looking for the hidden ghosts on each page!

I'm so impressed! The illustrations are captivating and gorgeous; the facts & history are well researched and compelling; but most surprising, the print quality of the book amazing! It's far bigger than I expected and the pages are glossy & thick with rich color. I'll be proud to keep this on my coffee table year round!
