12 inch Hand Held Stop Sign

I use this to cross the street when out walking my dog. I can push the metal handle into the back of my pants so I can whip it out whenever crossing where there is a right turn on red (most streets here in California) and leave my hands free the rest of the time. It has been effective sometimes, but some drivers ignore pedestrians and never actually "stop" at stop signs. They will whiz by, or even run into you or honk at you to get out of the way. If they see me waving my stop sign, they will "usually" stop, though some just look at me as if I'm crazy to think a car would stop to avoid hitting a person walking. The stop sign at least increases my visibility and sends a message without me having to shout at drivers. It's plastic so it's durable and weather resistant and light weight.

My daughter begged for one for years so this works fine for a toy, but it's sturdiness would make me rethink it before using it as a tool for a crosswalk.

Just what I wanted & expected. Sturdy, but lightweight, it will get the job done!

It's amazing how drivers will let you direct them with under $20 worth of handheld stop signs and a neon safety vest from the internet. Used these as a tour guide for a walking tour company... the difference in managing groups of +/- 16 people crossing busy city streets with vs. without these signs was astounding.
