This board is the board
Just got the Rat in the mail. This thing is so perfect. I am a new rider and out in Queens NY there are these hills I would come up to when skating around that I would just end up walking down because I'd end up gaining too much speed and just flipping the board off the road to stop. This was happening a lot and I started to just look for long boards with brakes. Well I ran into this one and am so glad I went with it. Craftsmanship on this product was amazing. Thank you Ben for your work on this. You gained a fan today. - Rotten Bobby

5 lb. deck! Awesome trucks
The brakes are amazing for you cruiser/longboard (which is what I was after). This is a way cheaper route than getting the 150mm official longboard trucks. I kind of figured I would be casting off the plastic deck - but wanted to let you all know a surprising fact. This deck weighs a whopping 5 lbs. on its own! The trucks are heavy - but they aren't the main offender. Just so you know you can swap these onto a normal deck and avoid risk breaking any sidewalks/bridges/roads! If you ever felt like you needed a battering ram around your house - you'll totally enjoy using this deck.

Great board until brakes wear out
I rode this everyday for a few months and the brake pads fell out from overheating. A good idea but does not last long

Smartest Purchase You Will Ever Make In Longboarding!
Quite possibly the smartest purchase I have ever made! This thing is brilliant! I dig the small board but wanted to transfer the parts to my older longboard. I contacted the Aussie company and they were sooooo awesome! They kept sending me little videos and tips, etc. Fantastic customer service! I can't wait for these guys to blow up on the market because they deserve every bit of it! Thank you guys sooooo much for making such an ingenious device! This has made my commmutes so much better and safer and saved be a ton of cash on replacing shoes! Hahaha!

Initial review of the Rat
I own three Arbors (Axis 37", Zeppelin, and Rally) and a Landyachtz Switch. Just received my Brakeboard Rat and wanted to give my initial thoughts. I'll do another review once I have a chance to break it in a little more.Package came a day earlier than advertised. Nice surprise. Item was packed well and fully assembled, ready to use. The build quality seems pretty high. You can tell this board is built to last a long time. I was concerned the grip wouldn't be substantial enough, but that concern faded away once I stood on it. It is actually grip-ier(?) than most of my other boards.First thing you'll notice right of the bat is how heavy it is. 25 lbs is A LOT! Not sure if it's the trucks or the board or both, but man it's a lot. I could see this thing wearing you out if you had to carry it for any length of time. Would be nice if they could figure out how to cut at least 10 lbs off of this thing. The braking mechanism is impressive. You can tell they put a lot of thought and time into the design. Trucks are substantial as well. Were pretty loose right out of the box, so you may want to tighten them up before riding (I like mine tighter for a more stable ride). Initial test of the brakes went as published. Braking is smooth without the feeling of launching you off the front of the board. First ride down my street showed a bit slower than my other boards, but I expect once it gets broken in that should change.I'm a tall guy with big feet (size 13 US) and I'm wondering if the brake pedal will inadvertently get in my way. We'll see once I ride it a bit more. I'm taking a trip to Taipei in January. Plan on bringing my Rat to ride around and explore (as long as it's not raining too much). I'll pack it in one of my checked bags (unfortunately it's 50% of the allowable weight for checked bags....). There's one particular area I'm looking forward to riding. Ever since my trip there last year I wanted to bring a board, very steep and should be a great test of the brake on the Rat.Looking forward to testing out the Rat and so far am glad I added it to the fleet. My next review will be given once I put it through the paces.

Fun. but really heavy
It’s worth the 90 bucks I got it for. But I regret not getting a electric penny board instead.

This board is awesome. The brakes are perfectly calibrated so it is easy to ride, the deck and trucks are solid, and disc brakes are very practical for downhill rides. I would highly reccomend this item.

Love it I was worried about the size. After receiving it I was verry impressed. Not much smaller than my old school board. It was easier to get used to than I thought. Very heavy construction decent grip over all a good all around ride. Huge thumbs up. Probably going to get one more. Great buy
