An unbelieveable story - DO NOT BUY THESE CARRIERS!!!
So... this is going to be a tale. Sit down if you want to be entertained, while also learning about one of the worst product fails I have ever seen. Background: My wife and I are moving from California to Texas, and (of course) we're taking our two cats (Jessy, age 12, and Frankie, 11 months, both boys) with us. Neither one of them are experienced travelers, so driving is out of the question. Thus, we plan to fly. We do ALL the research, and, for the sake of this review, focus on finding the perfect pet carrier to carry them on the plane. We buy two of these carriers, based on their near-universal acclaim. We measure them, and they fit under the seats on Southwest (which, as an aside, was a great partner for flying our kitties). We test the carriers in the car a few times, and the cats are reticent but accepting of their temporary home.Day of Travel: We elected to give our cats a mild sedative prescribed by their vet, which we tested (with no ill effects) a few weeks prior to travel. In the car on the way to the airport, Jessy (the older one) was peaceful and calm, while Frankie (the younger one) was a little restless, but seemed to be coping. We made it successfully through airport screening, asking for a private screening room (HIGHLY recommended if you're flying with cats). Despite one of the TSA agents being deathly afraid of black cats (a story for another time), we made it to our gate with plenty of time to spare. We found a quiet, secluded area, expanded the extra zippers on these carriers, and let them play and rest before the flight. We board the plane, get perfect seats, and get ready for a (hopefully) uneventful flight. In the Air: Wow, were we wrong. While Frankie was mostly calm during takeoff, he did not adjust well to the change in altitude. Within 30 minutes, he was meowing constantly, pawing at the cage with his claws, and trying to force his way out of the carrier. Every once and a while, we'd try to put a finger or a hand into the carrier to calm him, but it did nothing. Them - BAM! Frankie manages to put his claws and teeth THOUGH THE SIDE OF THE CARRIER! As my wife was trying to calm him at the time, her hand was on the cage, and he was able to get his teeth to break her skin WHILE HE WAS STILL IN THE CARRIER.Even worse, as my realizes she's starting to bleed all over the carrier (and the airplane seats), and goes to get up and clean herself off on the bathroom, Frankie manages to stick his whole head OUT OF THE SMALL HOLE HE JUST MADE IN THE CARRIER - a la Jack Nicolson in "The Shining" (AKA "Here's JOHNNY!"). While he tries to push his whole body out of the carrier, my wife and I manage to restrain him and literally force him back inside.Given that Frankie was ready to escape his now decimated carrier, we quickly improvised, taking both cats and both carriers into a tiny airplane bathroom, holding both of the cats in my hands, and switching them into opposite carriers. For the rest of the plan, both cats were (mercifully) quiet and calm. Walking out of the arrival gate, and into the baggage claim area, we had to tip the carrier onto one of its ends, so that the broken end was facing up to minimize the risk of Jessy escaping. We made it to our rental car and apartment without incident; however, this remains one of the worst product experiences I have EVER had.Moral of the Story: As you can see from the photos, the seams on this carrier failed catastrophically. For all of its bells-and-whistles, it has one primary function - keep the cat inside the carrier at all times, no matter what. This carrier failed in its mission; as a result, I must urge people not to buy this carrier.

Is sturdy yet will yield the right amount if pushed down to fit different heights (to a reasonable amount) without collapsing!
Worked for a JetBlue flight despite them stating something like an 8 or 9-inch height limit on carry on items, which is what pet carriers count as they are to be placed under the seat. Fit just fine and the cats had room to lie down and move about! The expandable doors were great for the waiting room area to give the cats some space and breathing room. Both cats are between 9 and 11 pounds.Unrelated to the purchase, but if you take a flight, avoid middle seats! We were only able to place the second carrier long ways because the width of the middle seat was different than the ends. Fit perfectly under my end seat, and I could even fit a small bag beside it.

The purrrrfect gift!
I gifted one of these to my friend who sadly moved across country. $ was tight for her move, and she moved with a couple of cats, but couldn't afford separate carriers. I got her one of these for her birthday b/c it was on her wish list. She was speechless. Although I'm sure she didn't have high hopes of receiving this item as a gift (due to cost) it made my day to see how happy she was that she could transport her two kitties in one carrier. It's a soft carrier, but the ability to fold down the sides meant a great deal to her for being able to have extra room for her two fur babies to share the space. Although obviously not expensive, the extra blanket and bowl were a nice little addition. She was happy and let me know that the fur babies were quite comfortable. I looked at the carrier with her and if I had a kitty I'd definitely get this for mine. Holy zippers galore! I'm very happy with the purchase, and would buy it again, even though it wasn't for me.

Super comfy pet carrier!
This carrier is made of good materials and looks very sturdy. It came with a nice little blanky for my little boy ( 8 lb pomeranian), and a collapsible feeding bowl. It comes with a shoulder strap for easier carry, has a strap so you can attach it to your luggage, and you can strap it down in your car with the seatbelt. There is a small security leash inside the carrier to keep your pet from running out or escaping, and it opens up to give your pet more space. I wish it was a little bit bigger though. The description said it can carry small dogs comfortably, but even with the sides being expanded, it seems a little small for my 8 lb pomeranian. My dog wasn't able to stand up all he way in it comfortably, but will at least be able to stretch out a bit when the sides are expanded. If in doubt, go with the bigger sized carrier.

WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EVER IMAGINED!
You always worry that you won't be able to get your cats in their carrier in an emergency, or at least I do. I don't have to worry about that with this carrier. The day it came we opened the box and put it out on the table. Immediately our first cat was interested. She sniffed it all over and then plopped down inside it to nap. We took it down to our living room so that both cats, but especially our youngest cat, could get used to the sight and scent of it. She loves it so much she has taken it as hers, and sleeps in it often. When we had to take our youngest cat to get spayed, she got right in the carrier. Even after we brought her back home, she still loves it. I was worried that she would associate it with the vet, but she doesn't seem to. I'm planning on getting another so that each cat can have her own. Excellent buy! And I love that I can take it on an airplane if I needed to!
