The Wonderful Man

This book wasn't what I expected.
I got this book for my husband on his birthday because to me he is the epitome of a wonderful man... After looking at a few of the sample pages that they give you on amazon I thought this would be a good book to give him... I was sadly mistaken however... The beginning of the book was good.. and I assumed it would lead up to something like..."You are a wonderful man " blah blah blah.. Something to that notion but it ends with and I quote, " And one by one, all the people peeled off their skins of wealth, of power, of fear, of anger and of greed, and they began to wallow and swim naked together in the soft warm waters of loveliness". So... The whole idea or concept of the wonderful man gets sort of twisted... and when I gave this to my husband he just had the look like WTF? And realized I did not even read the book myself... And.. I kinda just looked like an ass... So I basically just took the book away from him and explained what a wonderful husband he is.. LOL. I will not be purchasing this book again. If you are expecting this book to be one of those really simple yet meaningful books, you will be disappointed... If you are looking for romantic books of that sort I definitely recommend, "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard Warburg... That definitely was a winner with my husband.

not a good story
Book condition and shipment was great, but was not impressed with the story. Didn't even give it as expected. Would have returned if shipping weren't more than I paid for the book.

bizarre
This book is very bizarre. I got it as a gift for my boyfriend. Just a random 'hey, thinking about you' type thing. It portrays the wonderful man as a wimpy little average Joe. It's not flattering and it's a strange story. Maybe this would be a good gift for a very old man with no personality.

Ordinary Can Be Wonderful
Not everyone can be famous, wealthy, or powerful. But each person is important and unique and is able to influence other people. Such is the case of the unnamed pleasant man in Edward Monkton's THE WONDERFUL MAN. He goes through life smiling, giving friendly greetings, and helping people. He doesn't seem to affect anyone, but the effect of his niceness changes each one of the people he meets.THE WONDERFUL MAN is drawn with very simple, almost stick-figure illustrations. The story is short and it has a good message. However, I did find the ending on the last page to be a bit bizarre. I wasn't for sure if it was supposed to be inspirational or humorous.THE WONDERUL MAN is a delightful, short inspirational book that is sure to brighten the day of anyone who is feeling down.

For the wonderful man in your life
For those of you who don't know, Edward Monkton is not just a writer of short but sweet cartoon books. He writes books which are fun yet explain in the rawest terms normal human emotions, influence and choices. This particular book concentrated on an 'ordinary' man who turns out to be wonderful by his small acts of everyday kindness and reflects a number of things. People who are consistently kind do make a difference and influence others. It also questions the success of individuals and makes you wonder if the millionaire is the successful man or the wonderful men beneath him. A treasure for your wonderful man.

Being nice is the only compliment here
After the good reviews I thought this would make a cute gift for my other half. However upon receiving and reading it I was really disappointed. I feel like the story focuses on how you’re not this, that and the other but you’re nice. I know my partner would be offended to be told that he doesn’t have a ‘winning smile’ etc but it’s ok, because he’s nice.Luckily I was able to get a refund with no problems but I am disappointed the story wasn’t a bit better. Usually a fan of Edward Monkton.

Loved the book
I bought it second hand for my other half's birthday, it's very relevant and I hoped he would love it. Only one small snag, although it was in good condition as described, there's a hand written inscription inside the front cover - it would have been good if the seller had mentioned that! I'm still trying to decide what to do about it......
