Fills to exactly where you need it to to cover the mop when inserting into "water side" of bucket. This makes the whole thing light to cart around as you mop. It folds so you can insert it into your soapy water side. Move it in and out to load with soapy water and to clean off mop head after mopping an area. Then you slide it into the dry side to remove excess water. The more times you do this, the more water you remove from the mop... for wetter or drier mopping. It's SO perfect I am finding myself mopping everything. It's really a JOY! The heads are removable and washable. I bought extras but have been using the original one for quite a while. FORGET about your Swiffer! This is so much more efficient and less wasteful! With a Swiffer you have to keep tossing the used paper heads. This one just keeps cleaning and cleaning with one bucket of water. SUCH a great design!
