Perfect multi-mode light for 60+ hr runtime
Flashlight so far is great, plan on using NiMH AAA batteries so I don’t have to worry about alkaline leaking. Purchased this one mainly to replace my lost Thrunight Ti AAA. Similar to that it has the low (moon mode) for 60 hour runtime. Not sure if it’s actually 60 hour, but really if I can get more than 24 hour in low mode then that’s a win for me. I really like the Olight AAA key chain light, same form factor as the Nitefox but single mode of 100 lumens at 45-60 minutes. Not bad for a bright light, but sometimes you just need a little bit less. Compared to the Olight, you get more value with the included accessories and multiple light output. Also came with a reversible stainless clip, key chain lobster clasp, and Glow-in-the-dark silicon diffuser. The ones I personally liked are the clip for pocket carry or reversible to clip on your hat. The silicon diffuser is really good for lantern or safety light for walking the dog or running in dim lit areas. Depending how this holds up, I may purchase a couple more to keep around for camping, EDC, around the house/car. Rechargeable lithiums are slowly making they way into everything, but it’s still nice to know you can just swap out the battery and keep going and cuts down on the size due to no additional electronics and USB C charging port. It’s barely bigger than the AAA battery. Now if they only made a bigger AA sized, would be PERFECT. It’s advertised as: Low, 5 lumens, 60 hrs Middle, 50 lumens, 6 hours High, 150 lumens, 1 hr Hidden strobe

Small size, good build quality, great beam characteristics, and bonus diffuser - all for an excellent price
I purchased this K3 Mini Keychain AAA flashlight from Nitefox to use as a small, lightweight emergency travel flashlight. The flashlight arrived as scheduled. It came inside a cute little plastic box measuring about 1 x 2 x 3 inches. The box contents included the flashlight, spare O-ring, diffuser head, a snap-on pocket clip, a spring-open keychain, as well as an instruction sheet. Everything was exactly as pictured on the Amazon website. The flashlight measures 2 3/4 inches in length. The head of the flashlight is 0.54 in in diameter and the body of the flashlight is 0.50 in in diameter. It weighs 9 grams without any battery. With my single AAA battery installed, it weighs 20 grams (0.7 oz). The finish is a nice black anodized aluminum with prominent knurling on both head and body of the light. The Nitefox name is printed on the head. The battery fits easily inside the flashlight and does not rattle when I shake it. The threads on the head are smooth and the head rotates with just the right amount of resistance (thanks to the O-ring) to turn the light on or change brightness levels. The light will not accidentally turn on by itself. The light has low, medium, and high levels (see my uploaded photos). As others have said, the low is a little brighter than the "moonlight" level that I've seen in other flashlights. It reminds me more of what the early LED flashlights would provide. The medium level is relatively bright and sufficient for most uses. If you really need a brighter light, the bright level is quite bright, especially for the small size of this flashlight. I would use it sparingly since it probably burns through the battery relatively quickly (I did not do any runtime testing). Similarly, the strobe function gives a very bright and rapid strobe effect that is quite annoying and should attract the desired attention. The flashlight has no memory, so it will always start on the low setting when you first turn it on, which is fine with me. Because of the orange peel reflector, the quality of the light beam is very nice, giving a rather diffuse area of illumination without any significant central hot spot. The included diffuser head fits over the head of the flashlight with a friction fit. This nicely diffuses the light causing the flashlight to behave as a miniature lightbulb or candle, great for area work. The flashlight will tail stand without any problems. This flashlight will fill my needs perfectly and I'm quite impressed with what you can get for the money.

5 years later.
Updated review from 2023 purchase below. After 5 years of carrying this light on a chain attached to my EDC knife, it went MIA. Never had an issue with the light. Replaced the battery 3-4 times a year. Light worked as well as it did when it was new. So I order a replacement. The replacement was about 1/4 inch shorter. It was immediately apparent because I had a certain grip pattern after 5 years. Looking at the pictures again I can point to the silver version to be the true size. It was not the longer bezel like pictured below. For that reason, I am dropping a star. Original review from 2018 purchase below. It has been a year since I bought this light as a key-chain light for my primary set of keys. I have carried it every day (that I left the house) and use the light almost every morning to navigate around the dogs in the early morning hour when it is still pitch dark outside. The light itself has been phenomenal. No issues at all. I use the low setting for the dog watch and the higher settings for everything else. It is plenty bright for me. The battery life if acceptable. I do not burn this light for long periods. That is not its intent. I’ll get something bigger if I want to light up the back yard. But for what it is, a small key-chain light, the battery life will do. When the battery does start to fade, it will not go to the brightest setting. So this is my cue to replace it. I will also put a little silicone on the O-ring at this time. The reason the rating did not get the full set of stars is because the finish has faded over the year. It is more silver now than black. This is likely because it knocks against my knife. But my knife does not show any wear. So don’t buy it for the anodized finish because that part will not last. Otherwise, it is a good light and when this one wears out I will replace it someday with the same model.

Much better than expected
Just to be clear on what this is, it is a tiny backup flashlight. It will never be the primary flashlight you pick up for anything if you have a choice. Having said that, it is great for what it is. It is very well made and quite sturdy. It fits on my keychain and is with me all the time. You would be surprised how often you need a flashlight and have to get by with your phone or go look for a flashlight. This is really a handy item to have on your keychain and forget about it or use the included clip and clip it on your hat. The diffuser works pretty well if you want to light up a tent or use it to read at night. It will light up a small room or tent easily. When using the brightest beam (without diffuser) the beam is pretty bright, not blinding, but bright. The medium beam is a good general purpose brightness that won't drain the battery and the lowest beam is perfect for using at night around a campsite with night adjusted eyes. You simply twist the end of the light to switch between modes. If you are like me and just looking for an extra flashlight that you can carry everywhere without having to think about it, this is a great item. I actually have an everyday carry flashlight ( Olight S1R ) that I carry with me all the time, but occasionally I forget it. This is a nice backup. Edit: I have been using this for a year and I have changed the batteries once. I actually use this all the time. The finish has been wearing off (as you can see in the photo I added) and I like the look of it. The more I use this light, the more I like it. Very handy piece of kit that I'm very satisfied with. Great purchase! *********************************************************************************************************************************************** I rely on reviews when I make purchases so I put a lot of time into reviewing everything I buy on Amazon for personal and my business. Nice light with cool white, no moonlight, that kills maglite and lots of accessories!
It is much brighter than a standard 3D maglite and even comparable to the newer LED maglite's lumens. Those expensive maglite I remember being OK which used expensive 3x D cell batteries and bulbs always died are now beaten by a TINY AAA flashlight company. This light's description should be updated to say it doesn't have a moonlight mode, instead it is a low mode. The 'moonlight' mode is too bright (the 0.1 lumens is false, closer to a 3-5 lumen low mode), but it works well in the daytime. It is cool white probably 6000K color temp, really good quality small flashlight (smaller than the other AAA light I have) that feels VERY well made, and has a hidden strobe so you don't have to cycle through it. It SCREAMS quality, if you haven't purchased one of the nicer LED flashlights before, (if you have the "1000-3000 lumen" lights that are $2, or use an incandescent still) this will KILL those lights. The accessories are nice too. Has a lobster claw clip, and you can use the clip on the brim of a hat for light, I love to use this light for that purpose! The cap also is a hard plastic that snugly fits over the head of the driver. It is great as a tool on your keychain, you have a SUPER BRIGHT beam that kills the maglite of your childhood as tiny as finger. Its like living in the future! You get a lot for the price, it's simply STUPENDOUS! Technology is amazing!! For the nerds: It has no PWM (means no flickering like you see in those CRTs, LCDs and crappy flashlights when you try to take a video). I've uploaded a picture of it compared to other lights I have. The K3 is at the right, the Astrolux A01 is in the center, and the SP10B is on the right. I love the size of the K3. It doesn't look much smaller than the Astrolux but its much lighter and does feel significantly smaller.

Hard to put the pieces together
I love the little flashlight and it looks really bright. But it didn't come with any directions for attaching the accessories. It was super hard to put on both the clip and the little circular wire for attaching it to the key chain. I still don't even have the key chain attached, because I guess I'm just not strong enough to manipulate it. Why can't it come all put together? Also, I have no idea what the little black ring is even for, and of course there is no explanation for it. I am so tired of products that assume the buyer knows everything already! I know once I am able to attach it to my key ring, I'll be happy with it, but this putting it all together is the pits!! Companies need to write directions for their dumbest customer, not the smartest. :(

Short life, defective parts, no warranty service
I bought this partly because it came with a diffuser and slightly higher beam than ThruNite Ti3 for less than the Ti3, but the E03 markings on the case where the battery goes appears to have been partially grinded off into a silver side and replaced with K3 embossing. Also, reading the side of the LED case says ThruNite Ti3. I like the Ti3 better because it still works. I rarely have to use these flashlights, so I wish the NiteFox would have lasted longer. First, the high beam went out, and now I have to twist it up to 7 times to get it to turn on at all. I emailed NiteFox several times to get a repair or replacement. Amazon returned a message saying it's past their 60 days, so now I hope NiteFox gets back to me before the 2-year warranty expires, as I've only owned it a year and it stopped working right after 6 months. Very versatile must-have for campers and other travelers
Perfect little travel flashlight. Works well. Unobtrusive. Better to clip it to a purse or pocket ZIPPER, than throwing it in loose - otherwise you might not even realize it’s in there. Stands up nicely on a bedside table with the defuser cap on, sorta like an ersatz candle. Love the way the defuser cap glows in the dark for a while after you turn the flashlight off. Great for finding your way around on a moonlit night, especially if you’re camping and looking for the restroom/outhouse. Or put it on your keychain so if you misplace your keys they’ll all still be together when you find them. 😊
