Wild Orchid [Blu-ray]

This has always been a sneaky favourite of mine, only apart from this, Zalman King did not come up with the goods afterwards and that makes this extra precious. The only thing that almost works against it is the casting of Carre Otis. Her performance is lacking to say the least and I can't think why Zalman cast her. She may be a good model, but as an actress, I would say not. The sexiest things in this film are Hannah, (Assumpta Serna) and Jacqueline Bisset. It goes without saying too that Mickey Rourke is brilliant, one of his best films. In short, it is a fantastic journey of sexual discovery and it captures the splendour and energy of Rio quite magnificently. You could almost say that Rio is a character itself in the film.This was a welcome release featuring the Dvd/BD combo and although I think a bit on the expensive side, (£16), it was worth it.

A young lawyer, Emily, lands a job with an international law firm, which immediately offers her a job In Rio de Janeiro. She is introduced to Claudia ( one of the firm's top executives ) and together they arrive in Rio to finalize the purchase of a hotel, but Emily is left alone when Claudia flies off to do business with the hotel’s owner, leaving Emily to cover her date for that night.Emily meets Claudia’s date, a mysterious man called Wheeler, who then sets about trying to entice her into a journey of self discovery & sexuality.The film was never going to win any Awards for its performances ( a lot of stilted dialogue is indeed delivered with wooden precision ) and whilst you do spend a great deal of time trying to figure out what the actual appeal is with Wheeler ( slicked back hair, pursed lips and a penchant for the kind of lines that would have most women cringing) what it does have is a fantastic soundtrack ( a stunning combination of rock, pop & tribal drums with latin American rhythms and spine tingling vocals ) true simmering sexuality & it is genuinely erotic.It’s a true guilty pleasure and is nowhere near as awful as people make out.It’s designed to titillate and it certainly does that far better than any Fifty Shades of Grey film.It’s also worth noting that “ the volleyball player from the beach “ is truly stunning and the film is worth watching just for him.The film gets an extra star for him alone.

The "Blu Ray" disc has only got Stereo sound.... no Dolby Digital, no DTS and no HD soundtrack..... poor!!.

Easily the worst movie i have ever seen. No joke. It is laugh out loud bad. As a M.Rourke and a 9 1/2 weeks fan I am astonished that Rourke and the once famous Jacqueline Bisset (Bullitt- S.McQueen) appeared in this soft porn, badly made movie.Director Zalman King's should have been arrested for crimes against Cinema-goers after the movie's release. Rourke stars as an aloof gazillionaire named Wheeler who longs for the human touch. Carre Otis is Emily,a naive,virginal American high-flying Lawyer who knows six languages (but can't act) and Jacqueline Bisset is Emily's scheming mother Claudia. It's set in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. Though the movie opens with multiple shots of the Christ of the Andes, this movie doesn't have a prayer.One of Emily's first experiences is watching a couple make love underneath a leaky drainpipe in an abandoned building. It turns out she's not the only voyeur in Rio. After snuggling up to her wearing a silly bear mask, Wheeler makes her watch a couple get intimate in a limo. He also makes her lose her virginity to an Ugly American dude. There's plenty of pretentious dialogue and a few cheesey love making scenes. Wheeler whines about how unloved he is and doesn't trust anybody,while Emily is inarticulate and stares blankly."Wild Orchid" was infamous for the consummation scene between Wheeler and Emily... but it's not a sexy movie. Rourke for example with his 16 inches of applied suntan, gitano bandana and Harley Davidson. He wines and dines Emily, asking challenging questions like 'Have you ever felt that primal, insatiable hunger?' How long can she resist? Even within its own terms the film is a disaster: all the acting is pathetic, the pacing poor, and the pay-off copulation scene merely mechanical. Its more like a bad comedy. In fact i laughed more during this than i did during "Meet the Fockers". For all the sex and nudity,"Wild Orchid" is an unintentional hoot.Benda

This movie is a Wonderful trip back to the beautiful 90s. Sure, it's a little silly, but the imagery is really nice. Mickey Rourke and Jacqueline Bisset are great. Carre Otis, eh, but she's a stunner in this movie. I saw a clip of the Joy Bahar show of she and Carre making fun of Mickeys "Marlon Brando performance " tsk, tsk. Mickey Rourke is an ACTOR, One of the last of the Mohicans. This is a nice pieces of 90s fun. ☺️

Every expectation met, no problems at all with playing or condition

Wer knisternde Erotik mag, landet mit diesem Film auf jeden Fall einen Treffer. Sexuelle Phantasien finden hier Nährstoff und neue Inspiration. Verschiedene Orte und Szenarien lassen den Zuschauer unterschiedliche sexuelle Spielarten miterleben. Die perfekten Körper der Protagonisten werden sehr ästhetisch in Szene gesetzt. Ein wunderbarer Fim um einen vielversprechenden Abend bei Kerzenlicht zu beginnen um sich bei bzw und/oder nach dem Film der schönsten Sache der Welt zu widmen.
