Funny Farm (DVD)Two fast-track yuppies, yearning for the tranqulity of rural life, giveup their careers and New York lifestyle only to find the wackyeccentrics outnumber the mosquitoes in their idyllic countryside.]]> Review: Nice movie - I looked for a long time for this film, it is very funny. Review: Great Movie! - Great Movie. Chevy Chase is a Great Actor. His Movie's just don't stop getting Funnier. This is an older Flick but it is really worth watching. Chevy Chase is a NY Sportswriter for a Local Newspaper. In the opening Scene they are engaged in a Business Meeting at His place of Employment. Andy announces that He will be taking a Leave of Absence to the Country to write a Book of sorts. This Leave was supposed to be to relax and unwind with His Wife Madolyn, but as the Events unfold, Andy Farmer [Chevy Chase] finds out that it's not that easy moving into a New Town. I am not familiar with The Female Actress that plays his Wife, but She plays an excellent roll with Mr. Chase in this Comedy. There are many laughable Ups and Downs as well as some Dramatics in this Movie. If You have never seen it before, You got to see it. FIVE STARS * * * * *

Funny Farm certainly was .......
While I am not as fond of Chevy Chase as I am of others, this movie had enough elements to crack me up and he was certainly great in it. He and his wife want to live the good life in the country, as he hopes that the place will help inspire his writing. The town however, and even the house itself, are surprises waiting to happen. Among the many, The only phone in the house is attached to a pay line, his movers get lost trying to find the place, the mailman is a quirky individual who delivers his mail on the fly, drunk and cackling like a maniac, and there is a body buried in the yard. The local sheriff is a man who has yet to pass his drivers exam and in his first attempt to integrate himself into local society he has managed to enrage a local fisherman into homicidal mania after a botched attempt to help him. Ironically, through all of this he loses his inspiration to write, but his teacher wife finds it and writes a successful children's book after she finds a stuffed squirrel in an antique shop. Of course, he gets jealous because the novel he wrote couldn't match it and they decide at last, to sell the house. Unless they can con someone into buying however, they are stuck with it, so they promise the town money to act like people in the painting of Rockwell in order to help sell the house. Will it work? Will the quirky people co-operate? That's at the end of this picture.

DVD 3 -- Funny Farm 10
I am really frustrated this is not in widescreen format taking full advantage of the gorgeous cinematography. All the characters are perfectly cast. You don't have to be a Chevy Chase fan to love him as Andy; it is the best acting he has ever done. Madolyn Smith is simply wonderful as the only character centered in reality while all the quirky and charming characters in this movie, her husband included, live in another world altogether. After Andy repeatedly waxes rhapsodic about settlers 100 years ago to romanticize one screw-up after the other, she finally smacks him in the forehead with her palm claiming it was a mosquito. When she has a children's book published, she plays her husband lovingly like a finely-tuned instrument, stroking his dented ego, telling him the main character (a squirrel named Andy)is a tribute to him and that he was her inspiration, not admitting little Andy gets hit by a truck at the end of the first book, until after he warms to the idea that she, not he, actually wrote a book and lets her have his typewriter and desk. Of course he unravels anyway, leading to the hi-lite -- the entire town turning into a Norman Rockwell scene to help the Farmers sell their home... no, not to help the Farmers, but for the $50 promised to each townsperson who participates ("cue the deer"). What makes this so good is that it's not over the top; it's simply charming. When I want to relax and escape to a warm, funny, and really beautiful place (I want that house, property, and the two ducks!) I replay this movie and never tire of it.

Love this movie, and I have wanted it for ages. Unfortunately this was the second company I tried to order from. But this time I didn't wait months to be disappointed. I arrived pretty quick considering it was from the states. So definatley recommend this seller. The movie itself is a classic Chevy Chase at his best.
