BGS 9985 | Precision Oiler

As I have only had the precision oiler a couple of days, it is really early to say with confidence how good it is. First impression upon removing from the packet, it feels quite well made. Removing the lid the oil reservoir is fine, especially as it is a precision instrument. Filling from an opened and slightly used 15ml bottle of specialist oil, a sizable amount is still left in the bottle. So (and this is a guess, as I have not measured it) it holds around 6 - 7ml. I found the small rod that protrudes, from the oils when the end/lid is removed, takes a little care to seat back in to the hole in the lid and plunger button, without forcing it. But again once you catch it, it feels like a solid seal (sorry it is difficult to describe if you have not experienced it). Once the plunger/button is depressed a good sized droplet forms on the nozzle. By good sized, I mean enough to adequately lubricate the type of precise mechanisms you would use such and oiler for but not to big that the droplet of oil dropping from the nozzle is a concern. Well as long as you are not whirling around like a Dervish or sharing like you are half way in to a Scottish loch in January in a pair of Speedos. If the Oil continues to deliver the same consistent oil droplets after a years or several years use I will be mightily impressed. Thus far I am just moderately impressed.

Simply awesome, i have for many many years made do with a cheap clear plastic oiler, but they have to be stored so carefully and not subjected to any crushing force or you end up with a puddle of oil in your tool case. This though is just exquisite. Solidly built and perfectly engineered and manufactured. Get this out to drop oil anytime anywhere and you'll have envious looks!!!!

Pressing down on the plunger at the top simply releases the stopper at the end of the pen to allow a small droplet of oil to flow out. It does not act as a pump, just a release. I filled mine with air tool oil as it is quite thin. If you release too many consecutive droplets, the flow will stop until you unscrew and re-tighten the lid. I thought mine had run out of oil and found it was still more than half full when trying to flush rust out of a stubborn pair of pliers. Normal service was resumed instantly the lid was released and screwed back down. With a bit of practice you can vary the size of the droplets to what you need. Not very "precision" but much less mess than working with a can of WD40 or bottle of 3-in-1. Easier to fit in the pocket too. As it works on gravity only, a droplet would have to be released and held on the end of the pen if the item to be oiled requires the pen to be held either horizontally or upside down. This is a neat, tidy, clean, handy way to carry and dispense small amounts of oil.

Amazing quality , feels like it will last a life time , just have to wait and see ...

Good tool

Nicely made. Works well. Bought to use when servicing typewriters, where minute amounts are required and must be applied in a precise location. If you do any precision work, I would recommend you purchase this handy oiler.

Leaks and took awhile to get working each time you use

Funktionsprinzip anders als erwartet aber sehr gut ! es handelt sich hier nicht um eine Pumpe, die Druck aufbaut, sonder um einen Stopfen, der ganz am Ende der "Nadel" der Röhrchen verschließt. beim Druck drück auf den "Auslöser" öffnet der Stopfen die Nadel und ein tropfen Öl Läuft heraus, der dann an der Nadel hängen bleibt und genau positionisert werden kann. mit Test-Öl = Ballistol Positiv: - sehr gute Verarbeitung - sehr stabiler Schutz der "Nadel" - dicht = nix läuft aus (bisher) - kein spritzen - genau ein tropfen kann dosiert werden negativ: - sehr geringes Öl-Volumen = ich habe es mit einer Ölkanne gefüllt 12,50€ ist nicht billig aber den Preis wert Kaufempfehlung, wenn es wirklich nur ein einziger Topfen Öl sein muss für größere "Mengen" absolut ungeeignet.

Solide olie precisiespuit maar ik mis een indicatie hoeveel olie er nog in zit. Ook vind ik het lastig om juist te doceren. Het is een druppel of niets. Even lekker olieen is er niet bij.
