Eaggle Classic Compass. Accurate, Waterproof, Shakeproof by (Silver)

There a few things I like about this compass. To start, it feel solid. When you hold it it doesn't feel cheaply made, and it is definitely not made of plastic. Another thing is that it looks good, which makes it for a simple gift to anyone you know. It would surely look good having it on a furniture at home for visitors to see.Now, in regards to accuracy. As the seller mentions on the item description, and also in the instruction note included, for the compass to be accurate it needs to be on a flat surface. While this defeats the idea of using this compass while camping or hiking since you won't have a flat surface available all the time, at least you the seller mentions the need of a flat surface for accuracy purposes. Which brings me again to the point, that this makes a great gift for home use.

Based on some of the reviews I was concerned that this compass wouldn't work correctly. I purchased the silver compass. When I took it out of the box, I was pleasantly surprised about the quality of the casing. It's really nice looking. However, like some of the other reviewers noticed, the north arrow wasn't accurate. The disk seems to rotate freely so I didn't understand why it didn't work. I figured it out.It seems that sometimes compasses become a little demagnetized. This can happen if the compass is near a strong magnetic field which affects the polarization of the dial. I suspect that is what happened here. There are youtube videos showing how to remagentize a compass and after doing so the compass works fine - and looks great.

The box that this compass came in was somewhat suspicious. It was just a clear white box with no labeling or any sort of company branding. Upon opening it, there were instructions and the compass was wrapped in plastic. Surprisingly, the product seemed very well made and very aesthetic. It doesn't feel cheap at all and I get compliments on it since I attached it to my keys. As far as functionality, it works; however, just a little slow sometimes. It's just not as accurate and fast as I hope it to be; however, it does get the job done. It is a great product to have just to have as a spare or hanging it on a backpack.

DO NOT BUY. As others have mentioned, the back plate (or something directly behind the back plate) of the compass case is made of a mildly ferrous material (I'm guessing a very cheap grade of stainless steel) and will attract a magnet along with the dial itself so this compass DOES NOT WORK. Laying it on a perfectly level wood table (bubble level verified) without anything metal anywhere near it to possibly affect the dial, it will give erroneous readings as you rotate it around by as much as 90 degrees. Have fun heading west or northwest when you want to go north. God help anyone lost in the woods with only this thing to guide them. Add in the "no returns" policy (which by the way I couldn't find documented anywhere when I made the purchase) and this is an all too typical poorly designed Chinese scam product.

I am impressed with the quality of this compass!! It is well built and sturdy and it works great. This is a great gift for anyone who loves to go out and adventure. The compass does not come with a clip or a chain of any sort so you would have to buy that separately if you think you might need those items. I highly recommend this compass.

This compass was purchased as a gift.It doesn't correctly point north and seems to have little to no magnetism. Unfortunately by the time the recipient opened his gift, we'd missed our deadline return. Little boat anchor.

This is a really nice compass. It works as described and is well made. Best of all, it makes a very attractive display piece. The engravings on the top and bottom are top notch and would make a terrific gift for any fan of NY. Would definitely recommend to anyone trying to add to their collection.

I bought both the silver and the gold both works good but personally I like the silver better and the reason why because it has more details at the top, I am planning to give them to my friend and his wife, good job Eaggle
