Excellent sound in my Dunbar chanter
I'm a newcomer to bagpipes and got a Dunbar practice chanter, which came with a basic plastic practice reed. That reed was difficult to play with a steady tone, often closed up from pressure, and sounded pretty shrill. So I tried one of these instead. Am I glad I did! This reed is clearly much higher quality than the cut rate reed that came with my Dunbar kit -- it looks better (not that it matters) and in particular has a much wider reed (so obviously more surface and resonance area). But the main things are that it is much easier to play consistently, and sounds much more mellow and harmonious. Even my family commented on how much better it sounds.I've had it a couple of months and it's lasting just fine. So I'd happily order one (or two) again if needed.

Great Beginners Reed
Great quality chanter read. One of the beginner ones out there. Durable construction, great sound, plays in tune, and doesn't blow my socks off when I try to play. Easy blower.

sounds good, fits in my cheap wooden chanter
Blows just as hard as the reeds that originally came with my practice chanter. sounds good, fits in my cheap wooden chanter, still feels like I'm going to have a brain hemorrhage after five minutes of practice. I guess that's just how the bagpipes blow...

These are the second set I've ordered.
These reeds do rather well with my Dunbar practice chanters. I would highly recommend them for a good economical price and a well made product.

One Star
Sounds bad and is hard to play. Not worth the money.

Good Quality
I own a Gibson Practice Chanter. This reed is a better quality reed than the Gibson reed that comes with the Chanter. After practicing with it, I feel like it takes a little bit more air flow near the high end notes. Much better quality reed in my opinion.

Walsh Chanter Reed
My son says it's 'good', but... It's the easiest, least amount of air effort required, and a 'good' tone. Of the 3 different reeds purchased, the tone of this is his 2nd favorite. Thank You

Solid, long lasting, not cheap!
Proper price for a practice chanter reed. Only reed on the market that makes your PC sound like an in tune musical instrument.
