A brilliant romp through the history of pop music
I love this book. Wonderfully researched, funny, fascinating... it's just a great read.I started by looking up my own birthday, then my husband's, then my parents', and so on. I had planned to dip in day-by-day from then onwards, but it's too good for that: I ended up sitting and reading it from cover to cover. It's a charming mixture of cold hard facts, anecdotes and trivia. Suitable for the pop fan or the trivia expert or the pub quiz player or anybody who loves music. An excellent stocking stuffer, Secret Santa or even main present.Heartily recommended.

This is an excellent book.
A fact-filled reference book you can dip in and out of, or read straight through from start to finish. Justin imparts his extensive knowledge and research with a lightness of touch, incorporating many generations and genres of popular music, putting in context the well-known and the obscure, the seismic and the trivial. His appreciation of the interconnectivity and evolution of music is accessible and entertaining, and he writes with both sensitivity and humour. This is an excellent book, and I highly recommend it.

Disappointed
Was hoping for more details per day andmore unusual trivia…If you’re a pop fan much of this will be known already rom other sources perhaps.. disappointed

A fascinating read
This excellent book is full of musical facts you didn’t know you needed to know, and some maybe you did, but not necessarily the dates on which they happened. The breadth and depth of knowledge on show is amazing but communicated in easily digestible form. You could just dip in and out of it, but I defy you not to read the whole thing in one go like I did.

enjoyable
An enjoyable and interesting look at some of the main points of the history of pop music . I liked the book there was lots of great pieces of information I have never heard before , if you enjoy this sort of book I recommend Rob Barkers 50s and 60s books .

Fascinating and informative
I purchased this book for my son but couldn’t resist (carefully) browsing through it first. One of those books you can return to again and again and always find something new.

Addictively enjoyable.
It's hard to stop reading this little gem of a book. I bought it for my partner and we read out the day's entry over breakfast, and it's a lovely start to the day - each entry has plenty to chew over (mentally!) and often leads to further discussion, or a trip to youtube to play an old favourite. Highly recommended.

Tedious
Thought it would be it interesting - it wasn't.What self-respecting book doesn't even have Keith Moon's death on 7th September? Frankly, I wanted more music deaths, and there didn't seem to be many.
