A few extra “U”s of space in your equipment rack is usually regarded as a good thing--it means you’ve got room for some additional electronics to address future expansion. But unfilled gaps in the stack are not without disadvantage. Unoccupied slots in the rack can negatively impact the desired flow-path of cooling air, they represent openings in which curious fingers can be inserted (a real bad idea if that rack contains vintage transmitting equipment) and even in the case of a comparatively benign server or network rack, open spaces just look sloppy. Blank rack plates can be deployed to address these concerns.This 2U blank rack plate by RackPath is an example. This standard 19-inch width plate is promoted by the seller for use in a “Server Rack Enclosure or Network Cabinet” This product is a 10-pack, meaning you receive quantity 10 pieces of 2-U plate. The manufacturer states these are “EIA/ECA-310 compatible.”The plates are fashioned from a comparatively thin, black-painted, steel. These do not have the robust structural strength of the aluminum slab plates that I prefer, but as simple covers, they’re adequate. The long edges of the plates are folded to create two “ribs” that stiffen the plate to discourage the wobble that would be apparent in a thin plate with no such ribbing.These plates are set up for (and provided with) M6 screw hardware, but should work fine with racks using the the more traditional 10-32 fasteners.RackPath offers other sizes and types blanks in this general style, including a ventilated plates which I’ve reviewed elsewhere.

Makes your rack enclosure clean, tidy and looking pretty! These are great vented spacers, they contain extra hardware (6 of each: screws, washers and nuts, you only need 4 for the install), for a set of 10 you now have an extra 20 to do with what you like, I'll likely eventually replace my existing hardware so that I have a clean aesthetic with the extras.All of the panels went in quickly and easily and certainly made the rack look a whole lot cleaner and it will likewise help with preventing items from falling into the rack which is greatly helpful. My rack has a door which now I plan to remove since the spacers will do a fine job instead of where the door couldn't close nicely because it'd hit one of my servers power buttons!Overall, these are a great buy for the value they provide and highly competitive within the space. The packaging is fantastic, leaves no room, individually wrapped and hardware inside of each item. You can tell they care deeply about their product and their customer experience. I look forward to utilizing their equipment in the future!

I'm getting a 6U wall-mount rack that initially will have only two components in it. These spacers will look great and add rigidity to the rack, which would otherwise be a bit flimsy as it is open on the top and bottom. They are very nicely finished, with no burrs or sharp edges to cut my fingers. No need to purchase mounting screws and cage nuts as a set is included with each spacer. I also have some 1U spacers from the same manufacturer so I can mix and match to cover any remaining empty spaces as the rack fills up.

Buying these in bulk you will save at least half if not more. Item is as advertised. We have two 12U cabinets that hold our firewall and miscellaneous networking equipment. As these sit just inside the door to my office, the same in and around the equipment was constantly a catch all for people to land misc IT bits. No matter how much I tried to correct their behavior, they still would toss whatever into the open spaces.These vented blanks were the perfect solution. The rolled edges on the top and bottom make them very strong. The vents let the equipment breathe. As the firewalls are custom built SFF, these also allow visibility to led status lights.Looking at purchasing more to clean up our 6U wall mounted equipment racks.
