Great product and well worth the price.
I prefer a larger caliber EDC pistol, but I find it hard to find a smaller model with a comfortable grip. I ended up selecting the S&W M&P Shield .45 ACP for it's size and weight, but still not completely satisfied with the grip, especially the extra rough texture of this one making it impossible to wear next to the skin under a shirt. (I prefer OWB concealed carry.) I found the HOGUE pistol grip sleeve on Amazon for about $11 USD and decided to give it a shot.I read some of the views about the difficulty of installing the grip, but I concur with the other reviewers who said you have to be "manly" to get this thing on your pistol, but it is worth it.I followed the directions to boil the sleeve for about 10 minutes. I unloaded and disassembled the pistol so I could be thorough with the Windex application. Using the technique described, I was able to install the sleeve in less than ten minutes, and I love it! I would have paid twice the price for the additional width and comfort this sleeve provides. It's knobby texture provides great grip, but is comfortable enough to wear next to my skin.I highly recommend this product, just keep in mind that you MUST follow the instructions and it will be difficult to install, but I am telling you it is worth the effort.

worth the effort
Ok like everyone has stated it is a struggle to get it on and the plastic strip makes it harder and gets in the way but the key for me, actually my wife put it on was to boil the grip and once you get it started keep pressure down ward. Hey if my wife can do it you can do it. Boil is the key. It looks so good and makes this a lot easier to handle. Patience was helpful and she has lots of that, I was ready to throw it on the floor and stomp on it. What a wonderful product and great set of instructions. I am very pleased 100%

Strenuous. Yes, that.
First and foremost, my Kahr CW-9 is now a joy to shoot, where before it would cause pain in the web between thumb and forefinger after one or two magazines. The added rubber material on the grip makes the grip more comfortable and stable, and the gun fits my hands better.I don't know if heating the grip sleeve made any difference, or if prestretching helped, but I did both. The shoehorn trick with the package material was a complete loss for me. What did work was spraying the gun and the sleeve liberally with Windex, slip the back of the sleeve over the back of the pistol grip, pull HARD to force the front of the sleeve onto the pistol grip, then pull, squeeze, tug and push wherever necessary, adding more Windex at least twice, until the sleeve is pushed into place. It took three or four tries to get it started properly. Considering that I had to use my lap to improve leverage, I cannot stress enough that before this process begins, UNLOAD THE GUN! And remove the magazine, the base of the magazine will just get in the way anyhow. After you have started to apply the sleeve, unload the gun a couple more times just to be sure. :)Any time the manufacturer's instructions mention that installation will be strenuous (their own word) you know you are in for a treat. Once that is done, however, the improved feel of the grip is well worth the effort. I am impressed and pleased.

Yep, sucks to install.
Hogue should provide some sort of Scout badge for installing these things. Every bit the PITA as everyone says. I did bleed. They feel great though and my whole gun is now streak free.I know people complain about the Shield grip texture being too rough. The only problem I had with the rough texture of the Shield grips was it chewing up my shirts. The grip texture was eating away the inside of my shirts and it would also cause some of my favorite button down summer shirts to snag on the grip like it was static cling. I'd get these fuzz balls stuck to the grips from the shirt material balling up. I guess that is to be expected with basically skateboard tape for grip texture. So, hoping these do a bit better for the sake of my shirts. The only real drawback to the Shield for me is the skinny grip. I would have liked just a little palm swell. The sleeve is just about perfect in adding that tiny bit of grip thickness. A nice side benefit.

Perfect addition to Shield 45
It only took me about an hour to get them on. Following the instructions is essential. Cut out the plastic shoehorns, used glass cleaner as lubricant and a hair dryer to heat it up. It was still a Major Battle! Good news is they will Never fall off.

A bit of a bear to install, but once I followed the instructions using the pieces of plastic, it went right on. Removing the plastic "shoe horns" took some doing. Had to use needle nose pliers.

NO WAY!
Terrible product. I recently bought 2 Shield 45's and love them except for their very aggressive grips. I thought these would solve the problem for me. They arrived yesterday and I was anxious to see how they fit. When I took the first one out of the package it looked way too small so I checked the sizing on the box and for sure it said it was for the Shield. Worked hard to get it on but couldn't get it stretched far enough to get it on fully. After about 30 mins I noticed it started ripping. Needless to say it continued to rip further the longer I worked with it. Ive used these type of sleeves before and really enjoyed them but I don't think this is the right product for me. I am going to try to return the unopened one but I guess I will mark this ripped one up to a lesson learned and look for something else for my grips.
