Great book.
If you’re into real history, this is an outstanding series by Allan Eclhart. Everything is true, the names, the events, the speeches, and the utter stupidity of the English mindset.

History Come Alive
The Conquerors is a spectacular piece of historical writing. The subject of the book is Ottawa (Odawa) chief Pontiac's uprising against the British in 1763. Much of the action focuses on the siege of Fort Detroit and the attacks against some of the other forts in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. The book also covers the Delaware and Shawnee raids in Pennsylvania and throughout the rest of the frontier. This book is part of the "Winning of America" series in which it follows Wilderness Empire and precedes the Frontiersmen. Like he does with the rest of the books in the series, the author uses a unique style of writing in that it's not pure non-fiction/history and it's not fiction. It would probably be best described as history with some rhetorical embellishment. Another aspect of the book which is an asset is that the author attempts to treat both the American Indians and the British fairly. If you like history, you'll enjoy this book--just be prepared for some graphic violence.

Fascinating look into early (pre-)American history
I loved the story in the book; I would have given this five stars, except that this edition (unlike the two earlier ebooks in this series) does not have hyper-links to the end notes. You will want to review the end notes, but it is very hard to do so without the hyperlinks, given this is a 600 page ebook. What a terrible time the English and French settlers had as they pushed West out of the original colonies!

This is NOT "good" condition!
Have purchased many used books through Amazon in "good" condition, and have been pleasantly surprised by all of them - EXCEPT THIS ONE. Do not see how a book with a totally taped binding and cover, turned-up edges, and stains on MANY pages can be considered "good" condition. This definitely should have been listed as "acceptable." Very disappointed.

History in Narrative
Well written and informative-like all of this author's books. My only reason for not offering a 5-star review is that I felt the ending was a bit was a bit under-developed as compared to the rest of the book.

Good historical novel
Book was well written. I live in the area that the book was written about. It was very accurate when it came to the geographical locations.

Another excellent narrative
The author again makes the history of the colonial frontier and Old Northwest come to life. The entire series is well worth the time to read. I especially appreciate the evenhanded description of all the players in these events. There is no romanticizing of a very bloody and violent time.

Easy, readable style of writing.
I have an interest in early American history and I read a new book every month regarding this subject. The author has a style of penmanship that I find enjoyable.Although the early history of native Americans raise’s an emotive aspect and feelings with the reader, the author has a knack for putting that aspect aside and gets on with telling the story.I thoroughly enjoy reading Eckerts work.He does tend to finish his books rather abruptly, at least it seems that way to me.
